Former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), 71 years old, asked Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), for authorization to receive his daughter-in-law Fernanda Bolsonaro and his two granddaughters at his residence, in Brasília. The request is specifically valid for Saturday, June 13, 2026. Bolsonaro is under house arrest in the federal capital.
The request was filed this Tuesday (9) and refers to the daughters of senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), who are minors. Fernanda has been married to Flávio since 2010.
Current house arrest restrictions
Since the STF granted Bolsonaro temporary house arrest in March 2026, visitation rules have been strict. Only his wife Michelle Bolsonaro, his daughter Laura and his stepdaughter Letícia, who live in the same house, have free access. His sons Flávio, Carlos and Jair Renan can visit him on specific days and times, such as Wednesdays and Saturdays, with limited windows.
Other visits, including those from more distant family members or allies, depend on prior authorization from Minister Alexandre de Moraes. The measure includes the use of electronic ankle bracelets, a ban on cell phones and strict monitoring to prevent non-compliance with the conditions.
Request context
The request comes amid limitations imposed by the courts to preserve the controlled environment during Bolsonaro’s recovery period, who had been hospitalized with bronchopneumonia before transitioning to home care. In previous decisions, Moraes has already authorized occasional visits from authorities and relaxed rules for some family members, but maintains control over additional access.
Daughter-in-law Fernanda Bolsonaro does not live in the former president’s house, which requires formal communication to the STF for her granddaughters’ visit.
What changes in practice
The authorization, if granted, would allow for family time outside of the regular windows set aside for children. This reinforces the humanitarian nature of house arrest, but maintains the need for individual judicial approval for each exception outside the resident nucleus.
