Apple announced this Monday (8) the creation of Siri AI, an updated version of its personal assistant. The tool has an independent application that allows you to keep a complete history of conversations carried out with it.
The resources have started to be made available to developers, but the general public will only have access in a testing phase in the coming months. In the initial stage, the new features will be restricted to compatible devices configured in English.
The new application has a similar look to ChatGPT, with interactions in the format of messages. In certain situations, the assistant continues to appear in other parts of the operating system.
Siri AI can also examine message history to retrieve information or analyze the content displayed on the screen to answer questions. The tool performs searches on the internet and generates updated answers in real time.
With these capabilities, the user can ask the assistant to locate tickets for a show in the city or identify the location where a photo was captured, for example.
Other new additions to Siri AI include:
- Integration with text editing applications, which allows you to create documents from scratch or modify content already written by the user;
- Support for Visual Intelligence on iPad, Mac and Vision Pro, a feature that recognizes images with artificial intelligence;
- More expressive voices, with more natural pronunciation and options for customizing the assistant’s tone.
Siri was originally launched in 2011 and is present on around 2.5 billion Apple devices. Despite this, many users migrated to solutions like ChatGPT and Claude, which generated increasing pressure on the company to modernize the assistant.
Analysts’ assessment is that Apple did not fully exploit Siri’s potential when processing data such as emails, messages and calendars to enrich the user experience.
New generation of Apple Intelligence
Siri’s structure was rebuilt based on the new generation of Apple Intelligence, the company’s artificial intelligence package.
According to Apple, the update allows features to become more personal and apps to work more efficiently.
The company claims that the new AI functions deliver more realistic photo edits and more accurate internet searches, among other improvements.
The updated version of Apple Intelligence can change the framing of photos even after they are taken. An image with a closed crop, for example, can be expanded by AI, which automatically generates the enlarged background.
