Manchester United confirmed this Wednesday the departure of three players from the main squad at the end of the season. Casemiro, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia will leave the club when their contracts expire on June 30th.

The decision was already expected for the three names, but the club’s official statement eliminates any doubts about the trio’s immediate future. With this, United begins concretely the reformulation of the squad under the management of INEOS and coach Michael Carrick.

Casemiro, who had already signaled his departure in January, is expected to head to Inter Miami, Lionel Messi’s MLS team. The Brazilian midfielder leaves Old Trafford after contributing to important titles, but with performance affected in recent months.

Tyrell Malacia, in turn, had little regularity since his arrival and never established himself as a central player on the left flank. Jadon Sancho, signed for £73 million in 2021, had a troubled career at the club, with frequent loans.

In five years at United, the Englishman played in just 83 games for the first team, scoring 12 goals and six assists. Interestingly, he played more games (101) for the clubs he was loaned to, such as Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and Aston Villa.

Financial reform gains momentum

The departure of the three players represents a significant saving on the salary bill. Together, they weighed around £640,000 a week in the club’s coffers, the equivalent of more than R$4.5 million. This financial relief should facilitate the arrival of reinforcements, with Ederson practically agreed and active searches for midfielders and full-backs.

Barcelona rules out Rashford

At the same time, Barcelona decided not to exercise the option to purchase 30 million euros (around £26 million) for Marcus Rashford. The information was confirmed by the newspaper Marca and by Fabrizio Romano this Wednesday morning.

Rashford was on loan to the Catalan club in the 2025/26 season and performed well, but financial issues and the arrival of new attackers weighed on the decision. With this, the striker returns to United, who can now negotiate him for a higher price – Bayern Munich appears as a likely destination.

The move is part of a busy transfer window at Old Trafford, with departures already planned and signings underway to restructure the team.
