Long-range Ukrainian strikes hit a military factory and an oil refinery on Russian soil.

Ukrainian advances with extended-range weaponry represent an increasing test of Russia’s narrative that it controls the pace of the war, which has been going on for more than five years.

On the night of Tuesday, June 9, 2026, Ukrainian forces launched a series of operations that reached hundreds of kilometers beyond the front line.

Ukraine reported that a weapons factory and an oil refinery on Russian territory were among the main objectives of a new wave of offensives.

At the same time, Russian officials reported that drone strikes against Ukrainian targets resulted in one death and more than a dozen injuries.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Ukraine hit a military installation in the city of Cheboksary, in the Russian republic of Chuvashia, the previous night, using Flamingo cruise missiles produced in the country.

He detailed that the factory, located more than 885 kilometers from the combat front, manufactured parts for Russian drones and missiles.

According to Zelenskyy, Ukrainian troops also carried out an attack on an oil refinery in the Samara region, in southwestern Russia.

Samara Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev stated that several industrial facilities had suffered damage from drones and that three people had been injured.

Oleg Nikolayev, leader of Chuvashia, admitted the impact of missiles in the region, but did not go into further details.

News outlet Astra reported that the military target hit in Chuvashia was a complex responsible for producing antennas for drones.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported that its defenses intercepted 326 Ukrainian drones throughout the night.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces also reported the attack on the West Horizon oil tanker, in the Black Sea, classified as part of the so-called Russian parallel fleet.

The action against the port of Mariupol, controlled by Russia, occurred in sequence and left the facility with reduced capacity.

Kiev’s drone units indicated that the port was left without power after attacks on its electrical, repair and command infrastructure.

In an official statement, Ukraine highlighted that the coup significantly reduced the use of Mariupol as a military logistics hub by the Russians.

Mariupol is a strategic port on the Sea of Azov in southeastern Ukraine, seized by Russian forces in 2022.

“The port served the enemy for military logistics, in addition to the illegal export of Ukrainian grain, coal and metals to Russia,” the statement said.
