The sequel to the acclaimed film The Social Network, from 2010, received a Brazilian title. Contrary to what many expected, it will not be The Social Network 2. The new film, starring Jeremy Strong as Mark Zuckerberg, will be called The Other Side of the Networks.

The plot follows former Facebook employee Frances Haugen, played by Mikey Madison, and journalist Jeff Horwitz, played by Jeremy Allen White. The two are responsible for exposing the company’s internal documents.

The revelations gave rise to the investigation known as Facebook Files, published by the Wall Street Journal in 2021. The internal papers revealed the company’s own concerns about the platform’s effects on the mental health of teenagers, in addition to the spread of misinformation and content linked to political violence.

The project marks Aaron Sorkin’s return to history. He takes on the roles of screenwriter and director. During CinemaCon, Sorkin justified the decision to return to the topic by stating that there is no life that has not been touched by the Facebook algorithm.

The cast also includes Bill Burr. Other confirmed names include Betty Gilpin, Billy Magnussen and Wunmi Mosaku.

Launched in 2010, The Social Network grossed more than US$226 million worldwide, won three Oscars and established itself as one of the most influential productions in the world of technology.

The Social Reckoning hits theaters in the United States on October 9, 2026. There is no confirmed date for Brazil yet.
