Police investigation sends Park Na-rae case to prosecutor for abuse of power against former managers

South Korean presenter Park Na-rae, 41, had her case referred to the Public Prosecutor’s Office on the 10th, suspected of abuse of power against former managers. The decision to take the case to the prosecutor’s office comes after seven months of police investigation, which gathered evidence about the allegations.

The Gangnam Police Department in Seoul was responsible for directing Park’s case to the city’s Central District Public Prosecutor’s Office. The recommendation is to be indicted for crimes such as aggravated assault and violation of the Law on Promotion of the Use of the Information and Communication Network and Protection of Information, among other crimes.

The accusations began in December last year, when two of the artist’s former managers filed complaints. They reported having suffered abuse of power, including verbal abuse and injuries caused by drinking glasses, allegedly for refusing to consume alcohol.

In return, Park Na-rae initiated legal action against the former managers, alleging attempted extortion and other crimes. Despite denying the allegations during interrogations carried out in February, March and May, the police investigation concluded that there was clear evidence of abuse of power.

In addition to the current accusations, the police continue to investigate other allegations involving the presenter. Park Na-rae is also the target of investigations into alleged illegal medical procedures carried out by the figure known as the “injection aunt”.
