For the red-black team, this match represents the fourth and final commitment of their off-season. Previously, the Rio team recorded a 2-2 draw against River Plate, from Argentina, and 2-0 victories over Lausanne, from Switzerland, and 2-1 against Benfica, from Portugal, all of these games taking place in the Algarve, in Portugal.

Olimpia will also have its fourth friendly match in the interseason, arriving at the game as leader of the Paraguayan Championship. The team recorded a 2-1 victory over Sportivo San Lorenzo, drew 1-1 with Recoleta FC and beat Sportivo Luqueño 3-0 in their previous three games, all played in their home country.
As the president of Olimpia, Rodrigo “Coto” Nogués, declared to the Paraguayan press before boarding, the objective is to end the preparation with a “strong friendly”.
