Real Madrid tries to lower Rodri’s value in million-dollar deals with Manchester City
Real Madrid is already aware of the amount required to secure Rodri’s signing, however, the Spanish club is making efforts to reduce the cost of the transaction. Manchester City set a price of 75 million euros, equivalent to approximately R$436 million, to release the Spanish midfielder, who was voted the best player of the 2026 World Cup, in a poll held on August 2, 2026.
However, the amount requested exceeds the investment range planned by Real Madrid. The club’s management, led by Florentino Pérez, established a limit of 50 million euros, which corresponds to approximately R$291 million, resulting in a difference of 25 million euros, that is, approximately R$145 million, in relation to Manchester City’s expectations.
Rodri is considered a prime target for Real Madrid, aiming to strengthen the midfield sector. The team’s strategy is to seek a reduction in City’s request throughout the conversations. An alternative being studied includes organizing the transaction with bonuses linked to goals and performance, thus seeking to reconcile values and enable an agreement between the teams.
The athlete’s contractual condition is also an element that can influence the negotiation. Midfielder Rodri has a contract with Manchester City valid until June 2027 and there was no response to the English club’s offer to extend his contract. Real Madrid is closely monitoring this situation and is betting on the possibility of progressing in the negotiations, if an agreement to extend the current commitment is not reached.
