Lesley Groff had overseen Jeffrey Epstein’s daily routine for nearly two decades as his executive assistant. Seu’s name appears in more than 150,000 documents released by Departamento from Justiça in the USA regarding the case of the tycoon convicted of sexual crimes. Apesar from this massive exposure, she resumed her life in New Canaan, Connecticut, attending parties and sophisticated dinners with friends and family, as if nothing had happened.
The situation contrasts sharply with the fate of other people mentioned in the Epstein files. Diversas personalities from politics, entertainment and business were ostracized, had their careers damaged or had to offer public apologies for mere connections to the convicted criminal. Para Groff, however, the accountability machine did not move with the same force.
Proximidade extreme with criminal acts
Groff controlled virtually every aspect of Epstein’s life: schedules, haircuts, transportation and, crucially, massages. Conforme reports from victims, many of these massages functioned as code for sexual acts. Seu’s role went beyond administration, she also made connections to take young people to Epstein’s island in Caribe and to her ranch in Novo México.
The volume of mentions of your name significantly exceeds that of other people involved. Apenas Epstein itself appears more often in documents. Ghislaine Maxwell, the tycoon’s girlfriend and also a victim recruiter, is not mentioned remotely as often as Groff.
Mobilização policy against Lesley in Connecticut
Daniel LaGattuta, resident political scientist at New Canaan, decided to take action. On March 2, he called on local Republicans to debate what he called the “Lesley issue.” Durante the encounter, presented information indicating that Groff was listed as a conspiracy suspect in FBI files. Argumentou that she was a key figure in Epstein’s inner circle and that the city was mentioned more than a thousand times in the documents precisely because of her residence.
LaGattuta explicitly asked local politicians who had received donations from Groff to return the money or give it to organizations supporting victims of sexual abuse. Descreveu associates herself with it as “morally repugnant and a political catastrophe”. Seus efforts, however, were ignored by the region’s Republican leaders.
Vida of normality and social participation
Contrariamente lived up to expectations, Groff did not stay away from New Canaan’s public life. Ela continues:
- Fazendo political donations regularly
- Participando of parties in high-end residences
- Organizando game nights with friends
- Jantando in sophisticated restaurants with his family and acquaintances
Esse’s behavior has raised a nagging question in the community: does anyone at New Canaan really care? “Free Press”, an independent journalism platform, described Groff as an “anomaly” in the broad accountability process that marked the Epstein saga.
Cool Defesa from Lesley Groff
Michael Bachner, Groff’s lawyer, maintains that his client maintained her innocence throughout her career alongside Epstein. In a formal statement, he stated that Groff “never witnessed or was informed of anything illegal related to these massages.” Bachner argues that Epstein operated two separate worlds, one legitimate and the other criminal, and ensured that the two did not collide.
The lawyer emphasized that Epstein kept Groff “purposely isolated from his criminal conduct” out of distrust and because he had every reason to lie. Segundo this version, Epstein deliberately protected his assistant from knowledge of his crimes.
Status procedural undefined
Embora Lesley Groff was formally listed as a suspected co-conspirator in FBI files, the US government never brought formal charges against her. Epstein died in Nova York’s arrest in 2019, before any proceedings involving his assistant had advanced significantly.
Essa procedural gap contributes to Groff’s current situation, without formal charges, she does not face criminal proceedings that would justify social or professional sanctions comparable to those of other people listed in the documents. Sua’s defense rests entirely on the claim that ignorance and willful isolation protect her from criminal liability.
