Ferrari launches Luce, its first fully electric car, in Rome

On May 25th, Ferrari presented its first fully electric model, the Luce. The vehicle marks the luxury Italian manufacturer’s entry into the clean energy car segment, at a time when other premium brands are slowing down their investments in this technology.

President John Elkann highlighted that the new model “transforms our vision into reality and opens a new chapter that strengthens Ferrari’s tradition.” Apesar arrives after rivals such as Porsche and Lamborghini, the Ferrari maintains its commitment to providing the same driving pleasure even with electric propulsion.

The Luce reaches a top speed of over 310 kilometers per hour and travels more than 530 kilometers on a single charge. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h occurs in 2.5 seconds, maintaining the performance expected from the brand.

The battery has a capacity of 122 kWh and the total weight reaches 2.26 tons, making it the heaviest model in the Ferrari line. The dimensions allow it to accommodate 5 passengers, and it is only the second 4-door model in the company’s history.

The launch comes against a challenging backdrop for premium electric vehicles. Market demand has weakened, prompting luxury car makers to slow the development of electrified models.
