The Chinese automaker officially announced the arrival of the BYD Sealion 7 to the Brazilian market this Tuesday. The electric crossover arrives in the country with a unique finish and engine configuration, aiming to attract consumers in the premium segment. The model features a robust mechanical package, delivering 531 combined horsepower through all-wheel drive. The suggested price for national buyers was set at R$339,990. The commercial strategy positions the new product in an intermediate and strategic range within the Asian brand’s portfolio in the country.

With the new value established, the sports utility vehicle fills the gap between the Seal sports sedan, currently sold for R$299,990, and the Tan seven-seat family SUV, priced at R$426,800. The vehicle had made its first public appearance during Salão of Pequim. The manufacturer chose to bring the Brasil the highest performance variant available globally. The visual design adopts the design language known as Ocean Aesthetics. Especialistas in the automotive industry often dubs the model as a utility version of the Seal, due to the strong aesthetic similarities and shared structural components.

Arquitetura mechanics and on-track performance numbers

The electric utility’s propulsion system is based on the joint and synchronized action of two independent engines. The engine installed on the front axle is responsible for generating 218 horsepower. The engine positioned on the rear axle acts as the main source of dynamic power, producing an additional 313 horsepower to push the vehicle. The technological combination delivers a maximum torque of 70.3 kgfm immediately upon touching the accelerator pedal. Acceleration from zero to 100 km/h takes just 4.5 seconds, demonstrating the agility of the heavy model. The vehicle’s maximum speed is electronically limited to 215 km/h for safety and cargo preservation reasons. The performance puts the family model on par with traditional sports cars powered by internal combustion.

The power supply for the entire mechanical assembly comes from the battery with Blade technology, developed and patented by the automaker itself. The structural component has a storage capacity of 82.5 kWh. The official range reaches 360 kilometers on a full charge, according to the rigorous measurement criteria established by the Inmetro. The vehicle’s electrical infrastructure uses an advanced 800 volt architecture, an important differentiator compared to direct competitors. The high voltage system enables ultra-fast charging processes at compatible public stations spread across the highways. In direct current (DC) chargers with a power of 150 kW, the battery level jumps from 30% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes. Residential alternating current (AC) charging supports up to 11 kW, requiring a considerably longer period of time to complete the energy cycle overnight.

Proporções structural and external visual identity

The dimensions of the crossover highlight its imposing size in the competitive segment of medium-large sports utility vehicles. The total length of the body measures exactly 4.83 meters. The width reaches 2.18 meters, while the height is set at 1.62 meters. The interior space for passengers is greatly benefited by the wheelbase of 2.93 meters. The car’s silhouette stands out for its pronounced arched roof, which gently descends towards the trunk lid. The accentuated trim gives the bodywork a coupe style, optimizing aerodynamics and reducing air resistance when traveling at cruising speeds on highways.

The front optical assembly uses tapered LED headlights, accompanied by illuminated fillets that advance over the front bumper, replicating the aggressive look of its sister sedan. The rear features lights interconnected by a continuous light bar, a recurring stylistic feature in recent launches from the global automotive industry. The BYD logo also receives its own lighting, reinforcing the car’s nocturnal visual signature. The vehicle construction employs the e-Platform 3.0 Evo. The structural base is classified by the brand’s engineering as the most sophisticated platform currently in production, ensuring greater torsional rigidity and better weight distribution between the front and rear axles.

Capacidade Charging and Assistive Technologies Pack

Versatility for daily use and family travel is reflected in the good luggage storage capacity. The main rear compartment accommodates up to 500 liters of useful volume up to the height of the windows. The absence of a traditional combustion engine allowed the creation of additional space under the front hood. The front compartment, technically known as frunk, offers another 60 liters to store small objects, backpacks or electrical system charging cables. The interior of the cabin contains a vast package of technologies aimed at occupant comfort and road safety in different traffic conditions.

The list of standard equipment includes advanced protection systems and state-of-the-art entertainment features:

  • Nove airbags strategically distributed throughout the cabin for comprehensive protection in the event of collisions.
  • Sistema automatic emergency braking with vehicle and pedestrian detection.
  • Sensores for continuous blind spot monitoring integrated into exterior mirrors.
  • Assistente lane keeping asset with autonomous trajectory correction capability.
  • Alertas sound and visual warnings of imminent front and rear collisions to prevent accidents.
  • Controle Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) ideal for maintaining a safe distance on road trips.
  • Premium sound Sistema signed by the Dynaudio brand and equipped with 12 high fidelity speakers.
  • Central interactive multimedia with the traditional 15.6-inch rotating screen on the central panel.
  • Fully digital instrument Painel with 10.25-inch display behind the multifunction steering wheel.
  • Projetor information display on the windshield (Head-up Display) to keep the driver’s attention on the road.
  • 20-inch light alloy Rodas shod with Michelin 245/45 R20 high-performance tires.

Opções customization and warranty policy on the market

Brazilian consumers will find the new sports utility vehicle available in three color options for the exterior body. The color catalog includes the paints Rosemary Grey, which represents an elegant shade of metallic gray, Bright White, for the traditional white option with high commercial acceptance, and Obsidian Black, representing the more discreet black version of the model. The lean palette facilitates the logistics of importing lots and perfectly meets the predominant preferences of the premium vehicle consumer public in the country. The interior finish meets the standard of sophistication required by the luxury category, using soft-touch materials and coverings that imitate leather on various contact surfaces.

The manufacturer’s after-sales strategy includes a comprehensive warranty package to provide security to new owners who migrate to electric mobility. The complete vehicle has factory coverage valid for six years or until it reaches the 200,000 kilometers driven mark, whichever condition occurs first on the odometer prevails. The high voltage battery pack receives specific extended protection, given its importance in the value of the asset. The warranty for the energy storage component is eight years, maintaining the limit of 200 thousand kilometers. The technical assistance policy reinforces the automaker’s commitment to the durability and reliability of its electrified products on the national scene.
