Google officially announced the expansion of the list of smartphones equipped with the Android system that now have direct compatibility with AirDrop, Apple’s proprietary technology, through the Quick Share tool. The recent software update allows owners of different devices to share files seamlessly with devices running iOS. The measure definitively eliminates the need to install third-party applications or use instant messengers to transfer documents, photos and videos between the two historically rival ecosystems.
The initiative fulfills a previous promise from the technology company to extend functionality far beyond its own line of cell phones, the well-known Pixels. Modelos from global brands with great weight in the market, such as Samsung, HONOR, OnePlus, Xiaomi, OPPO and vivo, have entered the updated list of supported equipment. The strategic move seeks to facilitate the routine of millions of users who live daily in mixed environments, where equipment from different manufacturers needs to communicate with speed, security and stability.
