A recent discovery made by the Android Authority portal reveals that the Motorola Razr Fold is the brand’s first smartphone to enable direct wireless transfer of files to Apple devices. This innovation unites Quick Share, present in the Android system, with AirDrop, used by macOS and iOS, through a Google strategy that eliminates dependence on third-party applications.
Motorola has not officially announced the functionality, although Google previously indicated that the foldable model would be one of those included. Practical confirmation came from tests conducted by the Android Authority team, which managed to transfer data from the device to a MacBook, identified in reviews as “The Big Mac”.
The shipping procedure is completely transparent, similar to what already occurs in other models, such as the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Android system users select the sharing option via Quick Share, and the Apple device receives the files via AirDrop, without requiring additional configurations or complex adjustments.
Native communication between the two ecosystems is being gradually implemented. Initially, the functionality was released for Pixel and Galaxy smartphones, later expanding to devices from OnePlus and OPPO. The official list released by Google points out the next devices that should receive the feature:
- HONOR Magic 8 Pro
- OPPO Find X8 Line
- Vivo X300 and X300 Pro
Despite being a long-awaited improvement, the recent landscape for Quick Share and AirDrop has not been without its challenges. Both systems presented critical vulnerabilities that could open the way for attacks via Wi-Fi. The expectation is that, after these risks are disclosed by security researchers, Google and Apple will release the necessary fixes soon.
