A new set of nominees for the prestigious 2026 Emmy Awards were revealed Wednesday morning, setting the stage for the 78th edition of the awards show. The announcement highlighted a series of productions that stood out on the television scene last year, with some titles garnering an impressive number of nominations.
In the comedy category, Apple TV stood out with the new series “Widow’s Bay”, a mix of horror and comedy, which secured 19 nominations, including best series. HBO Max’s acclaimed “Hacks” dominated the race with 24 mentions for its final season, confirming its status as a favorite among voters. In addition to them, “Abbott Elementary”, shown on ABC, won six nominations.
In the drama universe, HBO Max consolidated its strength with “The Pitt”, which received 25 nominations for its second season. This feat represents the highest number of any series, almost doubling the nominations received in its debut year and confirming its growing popularity and critical acclaim. The evolution of the series’ recognition highlights the ability of complex narratives to attract and retain the attention of judges.
The recognition also extended to the reality television genre, with “Dancing With the Stars” receiving its first nomination in a decade, a significant milestone for the production. Another surprise was the first nomination for Bravo’s “Summer House,” highlighting a growing appreciation for the cultural impact of factual entertainment programs on the television landscape.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for September 14, with actress Mariska Hargitay in the role of presenter. The event will take place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and will be broadcast live on NBC, in addition to being available for streaming on the Peacock platform.
