Google has invested in developing innovative functionality for the Chrome browser. The proposal is to allow security updates to be applied without requiring the program to be restarted. This new feature, part of Project Zero’s efforts, aims to improve the user experience and protection against vulnerabilities.
Currently, the ability to perform these updates in the background is now available to Chrome OS Flex users. However, the tech giant plans to expand this option to the desktop version of Chrome, covering popular operating systems like Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Although Google has not yet released an exact date for the official launch of this improvement, it is expected to be implemented soon. The company also plans to introduce a more intuitive notification system, letting users know when an update is ready to be applied.
With this new feature, users will see an “Apply update” button available in the browser, allowing them to choose the most opportune time to restart Chrome, if necessary. This flexibility is crucial, as it avoids abruptly interrupting work and losing open tabs, a common problem for those who use the browser intensively.
