GTA VI enthusiasts have been anxiously awaiting news about the game’s online component as its arrival approaches. However, Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games have confirmed that such information will not be released soon, focusing initial promotion on the single-player campaign.
According to renowned journalist Jason Schreier, who has a history of accurate investigations in the gaming industry, the publisher does not plan to include microtransactions in the main version of the game. He indicated that discussions about the next GTA Online are not in the company’s immediate plans.

Schreier detailed that Take-Two is directing GTA VI communication exclusively towards the individual mode. He mentioned that the focus is on the offline experience, without the expectation of including internal transactions in this part, and that the company does not intend to address the future of GTA Online or its monetization strategies in the short term.
The journalist also mentioned revenue values attributed to GTA Online, which Take-Two Interactive neither validated nor refuted. The multiplayer version of Grand Theft Auto V reportedly contributes $500 million annually to the company’s revenue.
During its last fiscal year, Take-Two recorded a total revenue of US$6.7 billion, of which US$5.2 billion, or almost 78% of the total, was generated by microtransactions. This significant amount comes mainly from users’ recurring spending on titles such as GTA Online and NBA 2K, highlighting the company’s robust games-as-a-service strategy.

In his report, Schreier also covered an interview with Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two. The executive revealed that advance sales of GTA VI significantly exceeded the company’s internal projections, indicating commercial success even before launch.
Zelnick reported that an extended preview of Grand Theft Auto VI will showcase a substantial amount of gameplay. The CEO commented that, after showing this preview, the public will understand Take-Two’s decision to release it on Netflix, describing the event as something “unmissable”.
The highly anticipated GTA VI is scheduled to be released on November 19, with versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
Take-Two CEO says GTA VI price is considered a “bargain”
During a conference call with investors on August 7, Take-Two Interactive discussed the value of GTA VI, which will cost US$80 in the United States and R$450 in Brazil. The North American publisher called this price an “incredible bargain”.
