BYD has officially launched the Song Pro 2026, a plug-in hybrid SUV that promises to shake up the electrified vehicle market with its combination of more affordable prices, cutting-edge technology and energy efficiency. Apresentado in August 2025, the model is now available at dealerships, with promotional prices starting at R$189,990, representing a significant reduction of up to R$4,810 compared to the previous line. Esta strategy reinforces the brand’s leadership in the sector and seeks to attract an even larger audience.

The new Song Pro 2026 incorporates the ADAS level 2 package in the GS version, raising the standard of safety and driver assistance. The Chinese automaker demonstrates its commitment to the local market by starting initial production at the Camaçari, Bahia factory, still in the testing phase, a crucial step towards the nationalization of its vehicles.

BYD’s strategy goes beyond competitive prices, including the continued expansion of the charging station network and the possible introduction of a flex hybrid engine in 2026. Essa innovation aims to capitalize on tax incentives and the country’s consolidated ethanol infrastructure. The Song Pro 2026 enters a competitive scenario, facing rivals such as the Toyota Corolla Cross and the Jeep Compass 4xe, betting on connectivity and security to win over urban consumers and demanding families.

Advances in technology and vehicle safety

The Song Pro 2026 stands out for its advanced technological package, particularly in the GS version, which integrates the ADAS level 2 system. Essas features respond to the growing demand for safety and convenience in urban and highway environments, providing a calmer and more protected driving experience.

Even the more affordable GL version offers a robust level of protection with six airbags, a 360-degree camera and stability control, ensuring occupant safety in a variety of situations. The 12.8-inch rotating multimedia center is one of the highlights of the interior, offering 4G connectivity, intuitive voice commands and full integration with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

– Central 12.8-inch multimedia with 4G connectivity.
– Pacote ADAS level 2 in GS version.
– Quadro of 8.8 inch digital instruments.
– Ar-dual-zone air conditioner with PM2.5 filter.

The 8.8-inch digital instrument panel complements the technological experience, while the dual-zone air conditioning with PM2.5 filter, present in the GS version, ensures thermal comfort and air quality. The interior finish, with soft-touch materials and two-tone covering, reinforces the perception of sophistication and quality. The internal space, with a wheelbase of 2.71 meters, guarantees comfort for five passengers, making it ideal for families, and the 520-liter trunk offers a significant difference compared to many competitors.

Hybrid performance and the flex future vision

The Song Pro 2026 maintains its renowned plug-in hybrid system, which combines a 1.5 aspirated gasoline engine with 98 hp with an electric motor that can generate up to 197 hp. Combined power reaches 223 hp in the GL version and an impressive 235 hp in the GS, allowing acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 and 7.9 seconds, respectively. The Blade batteries, with an eight-year warranty, are a difference in durability and technology, providing a combined range of 1,100 km, even with a slight reduction in pure electric range. Battery recharging supports up to 6.6 kW in alternating current, with charging times of approximately two hours for the 12.9 kWh (GL) battery and approximately three hours for the 18.3 kWh (GS). The e-CVT transmission ensures smooth transitions between propulsion modes, and front-wheel drive contributes to stable and predictable handling.

Refined design and optimized space

The design of the Song Pro 2026 preserves the visual identity that catapulted BYD to leadership in the hybrid segment, with elements that provide modernity and elegance. The wide front grille, adorned with chrome details, and the LED headlights with striking vertical lines, contribute to a sophisticated and imposing aesthetic. The rear lights, joined by a light bar, and the 17-inch wheels with an innovative pinwheel design, update the look, while the new color Preto Cosmos adds an extra touch of refinement.

Measuring 4.74 meters long, 1.86 meters wide and with a generous 520 liter trunk, the SUV proves to be highly functional for family use, surpassing the capacity of other models in the category. The folding rear seats and the ISOFIX system are features designed to facilitate transporting children and increase the vehicle’s versatility, while the electric trunk unlocking adds a level of practicality in everyday life.

Strategic positioning in the competitive SUV market

The Song Pro 2026 faces robust competition from established models such as the Toyota Corolla Cross and Jeep Compass 4xe as it seeks to consolidate its position with a compelling value proposition. The GL version, priced at R$189,990, is positioned competitively, offering greater electric range and a superior technology package compared to the entry-level versions of its rivals, even though it is slightly more expensive than the basic Corolla Cross.

The GS version, equipped with the advanced ADAS 2 package, competes directly with the Corolla Cross XRX Hybrid, which has a flex engine and a wider dealer network.

– Preços promotions from R$ 189,990.
– Pacote ADAS level 2 in GS version.
– Liderança in sales of hybrids on the market.
– Autonomia combined 1,100 km.

In the first half of 2025, the Song Pro recorded significant sales of 11,118 units, surpassing the Toyota Corolla Cross by more than 6 thousand vehicles, according to data from the Associação Brasileira of the Veículo Elétrico (ABVE). Taxation on imported hybrids, which will increase to 30% in July 2025, represents a challenge, but the price reduction strategy and tax incentives, such as the IPI exemption for flex-fuel vehicles, aim to mitigate this impact and maintain competitiveness.

Expansion of charging infrastructure: a pillar for electrification

BYD is actively investing in expanding its charging station network, a key move to boost the adoption of electrified vehicles. Atualmente, the company has 25 charging stations in São Paulo and plans to install 500 new units by the end of 2025, in strategic collaboration with companies such as Raízen and Shell. Embora slow recharging in the base version (6.6 kW) can take around five hours, the GS version offers the convenience of 18 kW DC recharging, which allows 80% of battery capacity to be reached in approximately 30 minutes, optimizing waiting time for users.

The charging infrastructure in the country has shown notable growth, with a 40% increase in the last two years, totaling 3,200 charging points in 2024. Esses points are mostly concentrated in large urban centers, such as São Paulo, with 800 units, and

– 500 new units planned by the end of 2025.
– Parcerias with Raízen and Shell.
– Recarga 18 kW DC in GS version.

BYD’s contribution, with chargers at its dealerships and strategic partnerships with energy companies, is vital to strengthening the practicality and viability of hybrid and electric vehicles. Essa network expansion is crucial to overcome the autonomy barrier and encourage the transition to more sustainable mobility, especially in regions that still lack greater coverage.

Commercial strategies and incentives drive sales

BYD adopts an aggressive commercial strategy to consolidate its presence, offering bonuses of R$20,000 when exchanging used vehicles and financing at a rate of 0.99% per month, with a down payment of 60%. The extended warranty, of six years for the vehicle and eight years for the battery, reinforces confidence in the durability and quality of the brand’s products, a decisive factor for many consumers.

Marketing campaigns focused on sustainability and technology generated more than 500,000 interactions on social media in 2025, expanding the brand’s reach.

– Bônus of R$20,000 when exchanging vehicles.
– Financiamento with a rate of 0.99% per month.
– Garantia of eight years for the battery.
– Isenção of IPVA in January 2025.

BYD’s leadership in the electrified vehicle segment, with 25% of the market in 2025, is a direct reflection of the success of its commercial strategies and continuous investments in technological innovation.

The future of national production and battery autonomy

The initial production of the Song Pro in Camaçari, Bahia, although still in the testing phase, represents a significant milestone towards the nationalization of production. Este strategic move has the potential to reduce manufacturing costs and increase the model’s competitiveness against rivals already produced locally.
