Mercedes-Benz has revealed the most extensive update ever carried out on the Classe S, consolidating the sedan’s position as the ultimate reference in the luxury segment. The new version arrives on the market with a set of innovations that redefine comfort and technology standards, including the debut of heated seat belts for front seat occupants, an unprecedented feature in the automotive industry.

The renovation project was in-depth, involving the improvement or development of more than 2,700 components specific to this model. The changes range from the exterior design, which now features an illuminated and more imposing front grille, to the engine, which has received significant gains in power and efficiency in all its variants, including the plug-in hybrid versions.

Embedded technology was also one of the pillars of the update, with the standardization of the Hyperscreen system in all configurations and a new evolution of the MBUX infotainment system. The global launch of the vehicle will occur gradually, with the first units being delivered to the main markets in the coming months, maintaining production concentrated at Alemanha to guarantee the brand’s rigorous quality standards.

Innovation focused on thermal comfort

The heated seat belts represent one of the most talked about new features in the updated Classe S. Integradas directly to the belt fabric, thin conductive fibers raise the surface temperature to up to 44 degrees Celsius quickly. The technology was developed to encourage the correct use of safety equipment, especially on low temperature days, combining protection with an improved comfort experience from the moment you enter the vehicle.

This functionality is available exclusively to the driver and front passenger. Mercedes-Benz justified the limitation due to technical challenges related to the integration of the system with the airbags present in the rear seat belts. Testes rigorous tests demonstrated that the heating is efficient and operates in an integrated manner with the general air conditioning system, without compromising safety, which remains the manufacturer’s top priority.

Modernized and imposing visual details

The sedan’s exterior design has been carefully refined to convey an image of greater modernity and sophistication. The radiator grille has been enlarged and now has an illuminated contour, giving the vehicle a more striking visual presence, especially at night. Chrome Detalhes were strategically positioned to highlight the brand’s visual identity, while the headlights with Digital Light technology project exclusive double star graphics, a touch of exclusivity.

The front and rear bumpers have also been redesigned to harmonize with the new lines of the grille and headlights. In selected markets, the iconic Mercedes star on the hood can be illuminated, although regulatory restrictions in some countries limit this option. The sides maintain the fluid and elegant lines that characterize the model, but new wheel options with an exclusive design have been added to the catalog to reinforce personalization.

Engine and performance improvements

The engines of the Classe S have undergone a complete overhaul to offer more power and efficiency. The V8 engine that powers the S 580 model now delivers 537 horsepower, a notable increase compared to the 503 horsepower of the previous version. Essa improvement translates into more vigorous acceleration and more agile responses, without sacrificing the smoothness of operation that is a hallmark of the sedan.

The S 580 e plug-in hybrid version has also been improved, reaching a combined power of 585 horsepower, surpassing the 510 horsepower of the previous generation. Além of the power gain, the autonomy in pure electric mode was extended, making the model an even more attractive option for those looking to combine high performance with less environmental impact and access to low emission zones.

Models equipped with a diesel engine received an electrically heated catalytic converter, technology that helps reduce polluting emissions and meet the most stringent environmental standards. The 4MATIC all-wheel drive system continues to be available in the main versions, ensuring maximum grip and safety in different road conditions.

Technology and luxury in the enhanced interior

The interior of the Classe S has always been a mark of luxury, and the new version raises this standard even further. The imposing Hyperscreen system, which occupies almost the entire panel, is now standard in all configurations. The large screen intuitively integrates the vehicle’s entertainment, navigation and control functions, creating a sophisticated, digital environment, with high-resolution graphics and quick responses to touch.

The finishing materials have been revised, with new leather and noble wood options, reinforcing the feeling of exclusivity. Interior space remains one of its strong points, offering exceptional comfort for all occupants on long journeys, with electrical adjustments for all seats, including massage and ventilation functions. The Burmester 4D premium sound system is available as an option, offering an immersive acoustic experience with seatback vibrations.

Ambient lighting, with a wide range of configurable colors, allows you to personalize the cabin according to the driver’s mood and can interact with assistance systems, issuing visual alerts. Porta-climatized cups and multiple electric seat adjustments ensure maximum comfort, while the Energizing Air Control air filtration system protects against fine particles, pollen and other pollutants, improving air quality on board.

The MBUX infotainment system has been updated with enhanced artificial intelligence, enabling more natural interactions with the “Hey Mercedes” voice assistant and learning the driver’s routines to offer proactive navigation and comfort suggestions. Connectivity has also been expanded, with more USB-C ports and wireless smartphone integration, ensuring all occupants remain connected throughout the journey.

Reinforced security with advanced systems

Mercedes-Benz has strengthened the already robust safety package of the Classe S, maintaining its leading position in driver assistance systems. Sensores and state-of-the-art cameras constantly monitor the environment around the vehicle to assist in maneuvers and prevent collisions. The Pre-Safe system, which prepares the car for an imminent impact by tensioning the belts and adjusting the seats, continues to be an important differentiator, working to minimize the consequences of an accident before it even occurs. The Pre-Safe function

Active cruise control has been improved to work more smoothly in traffic jams, predictively adjusting speed based on navigation data. The Digital Light adaptive headlights not only adjust the light beam so as not to dazzle other drivers, but can also project warning symbols on the road, such as arrows or construction warnings. The body structure combines high-strength steel with aluminum, ensuring torsional rigidity and high protection for the occupants, a fact proven in the most rigorous independent safety tests around the world, consolidating the model’s reputation.

Market positioning and pricing strategy

The starting price of the new Classe S at Europa starts at approximately 121 thousand euros, representing an increase compared to the previous version, justified by the addition of technology and standard equipment. No Brasil, the values of imported versions must remain at a high level, exceeding one million reais, depending on the configuration and options chosen by the customer. Esses numbers reaffirm the sedan’s position at the top of the luxury segment, competing directly with models such as the BMW Série 7 and the Audi A8, which also invest heavily in technology and comfort. Mercedes-Benz’s strategy is clear: maintain the Classe S as the brand’s flagship and the absolute benchmark by which all other luxury vehicles are measured. The manufacturer is betting that exclusive innovations, such as heated belts and the level of interior personalization, will be decisive in attracting and retaining customers who seek maximum prestige, safety and technological innovation, even in an increasingly competitive and electrified market.

Exclusive finishes and attention to detail

Attention to detail is evident throughout the vehicle’s interior. The multifunctional steering wheel now has integrated heating in all versions, as do the armrests on the doors and on the center console, elements that contribute to well-being in cold climates. The seat stitching has been improved to ensure greater durability and aesthetic appeal, while the perforated leather options improve ventilation and thermal comfort on hot days.
