Bose introduced its new Lifestyle Collection line at Japão with three products focused on immersive home audio: an ultra-slim speaker, a soundbar with Dolby Atmos and a powerful subwoofer. The portfolio represents the company’s most aggressive entry into the surround sound systems segment, where Sonos dominates with its Arc Ultra and Era models.

Ultra Sound Caixa produces immersive, powerful sound

The Bose Lifestyle Ultra, priced at US$299 (¥55,000 with tax on the Japão), impresses with its compact size and sound performance. The unit combines two front-facing drivers with one upward-facing driver, creating an immersive sound pattern. Initial Testes with Olivia Dean range demonstrated that the volume reaches sufficient level to completely fill living rooms without distortion.

QuietPort technology, integrated into the three drivers, maintains consistent bass reproduction at different volumes. Essa acoustic architecture prevents the sound from changing or interrupting during power adjustments. The company also uses the CleanBass system, which uses an exclusive acoustic path to preserve low frequency quality.

The design is available in three finishes:

  • Branco smoke
  • Preto
  • Areia (limited edition, inspired by white oak)

The size and weight position the Lifestyle Ultra between the Sonos Era 100 and the Era 300, offering flexibility for different home environments.

Soundbar competes directly with Sonos Arc Ultra

The Bose Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar costs US$1,099 (¥154,000 for the Japão) and incorporates a J-shaped QuietPort channel to amplify bass. Dois upward-facing drivers recreate typical Dolby Atmos surround sound effect without the need for physical rear speakers around the listener.

The most significant new feature is the revised positioning of the PhaseGuide driver, moved from the edge to the center of the soundbar. In demonstrations using scenes from the movie Duna, this adjustment produced sonic performance that may make a separate speaker and soundbar combination unnecessary. The company further updated the dialogue system, renaming the Modo from Diálogo with earlier AI for SpeechClarity, allowing users more precise control over voice clarity.

Subwoofer high performance complete system

The Bose Lifestyle Subwoofer costs US$899, matching in price the Sub 4 from Sonos (¥110,000 for the Japão). Oferece deep bass that justifies the high investment, integrating perfectly with the other components in the Lifestyle line. Esse price positions the subwoofer as a premium option within the category.

The second Bose Lifestyle Ultra can function as a wireless rear speaker when combined with the soundbar and subwoofer, creating a complete surround system. Essa configuration offers a less expensive alternative to traditional professional multichannel systems while maintaining superior sound quality.

Posicionamento competitive in the audio market

The $299 Lifestyle Ultra speaker offers more powerful and immersive sound than the previous $399 Surround Speakers, but in a smaller size. Seu price is strategically located between Sonos Era 100 (US$ 219) and Era 300 (US$ 479), creating an attractive mid-range.

The $1,099 soundbar directly competes on price with the Sonos Arc Ultra, offering similar appeal through Dolby Atmos technology and upward-facing drivers. The Bose faces the challenge of converting laboratory demonstrations into consistent performance in everyday use within real homes.

The products are available on Japão and will come to other markets. Full reviews will be published after longer testing and in different home environments.
