Bolsonaro is preventively arrested by court order at the request of the Federal Police

Polícia Federal arrested former president Jair Bolsonaro on the morning of this Saturday, November 22, 2025, in Brasília. The arrest took place around 6am, at his residence in the Solar condominium of Brasília, in Jardim Botânico. The preventive measure was determined by minister Alexandre of Moraes, of Supremo Tribunal Federal, at the request of the PF itself, to preserve public order and prevent possible escape.

Bolsonaro had been under house arrest since August 4, using an electronic ankle bracelet, due to previous non-compliance with restrictions imposed by the STF. The vigil announced by Flávio Bolsonaro was interpreted as the potential use of supporters to obstruct inspections. The video promoting the event contained elements that, according to the decision, encouraged disrespect for court orders and institutions.
