Udinese, in turn, bet on possession of the ball and quick counterattacks, but was unable to pose any real threat to the goal defended by Michele Di Gregorio.
Decisive defensive actions
Udinese’s defense prevented at least three clear opportunities from Juventus with helpful cuts to corners and crosses.
Juan Cabal and Andrea Cambiaso appeared on the left side of Juventus, creating numerical superiority and dangerous surveys for the area.
Goalkeeper Razvan Sava made important saves, especially with a header after a corner and a placed shot by Yildiz.

Despite the advantage on the scoreboard, Juventus wasted clear chances to expand before the break.
Teun Koopmeiners tried first on the rebound in the 38th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar.
Udinese had a goal disallowed for offside by Kingsley Ehizibue in the 30th minute, in a rare moment of danger created by the visitor.
Balanced ball possession
Juventus ended the first half with approximately 58% possession of the ball, according to official match data.

Udinese managed to hold on to the result with a low block and quick exits on the sides with Zemura and Ehizibue.
