Praia Clube beat Orlando Valkyries, from Estados Unidos, by 3 sets to 0 this Wednesday (10), at Arena Pacaembu, at São Paulo. The match, valid for the second round of Grupo B of Mundial of Clubes Feminino of Vôlei, had splits of 25/23, 25/15 and 28/26. With the victory, Uberlândia’s team has six points and practically guarantees a place in the semifinals, depending only on the result of the duel between Conegliano and Zamalek, scheduled for 5pm.
The team from Minas Gerais maintained its good performance after its debut with a 3×0 victory over Zamalek. The opposite Morgahn Fingall suffered a foot injury in the second set and left the court, but the team did not lose momentum.
The game took place at 10am (Brasília time), broadcast on Cazé TV and Volleyball World TV.
Match development
Praia Clube started the first set with a strong rhythm and opened a four-point lead. In the final stretch, errors in the serve allowed the North Americans to react, which reduced it to one point. The experience of the Brazilian players prevailed, with emphasis on the setter Macris and the central Adenízia. The team closed on 25/23.
In the second set, Praia repeated their dominant start, but Orlando tied at 6/6. The most delicate moment occurred when Fingall twisted his foot while cushioning a block and left crying. Monique took the place and maintained the pattern. From 14/12 onwards, the team took off and won 25/15.
The third part was the most balanced. Orlando opened a five-point lead, but coach Rui Moreira called time and Praia recovered. The North Americans had two set points, but the Brazilian blockade, led by Michelle and Adenízia, decided. The set ended 28/26.
Individual highlights
Michelle and Adenízia were the highest scorers of the match, with 14 points each. The duo stood out especially in blocking and decisive attacking.
Monique Pavão, who replaced Fingall, contributed to maintaining balance in the second set. Macris organized the game well and distributed efficient passes.
