Who is entitled to the benefit in 2026

To be eligible to receive the salary bonus in 2026, it is necessary to meet a set of requirements related to the base year of 2024. The first criterion is to have been enrolled in the PIS or PASEP programs for at least five years, counting from the first job with a formal contract.

It is also essential to have worked with formal registration for at least 30 days during the year 2024. Este period does not need to be continuous; the sum of days worked throughout the year must reach the legal minimum established to validate the right.

Another fundamental condition is that the worker’s average monthly remuneration in 2024 must not exceed the limit of two minimum wages in force at the time. The average calculation considers all earnings for the period divided by the number of months worked.

Finally, it is mandatory that the employer has correctly declared the worker’s information in Relação Anual of Informações Sociais (RAIS) or in the eSocial system. The accurate submission of this data by the employer is what feeds the government’s basis for identifying beneficiaries.

How the salary bonus amount is calculated

The amount of the salary bonus is directly proportional to the number of months worked in the base year of 2024, with the ceiling being the value of the minimum wage in force in the year of payment, that is, in 2026. The calculation methodology is simple: the value of the minimum wage for 2026 will be divided by 12 to obtain the amount corresponding to one month of work. Esse result is then multiplied by the number of months the worker was employed. The legislation considers any period of work equal to or greater than 15 days to be a complete month. For example, if a worker worked for eight months in 2024 and the minimum wage in 2026 is projected at R$1,620, the calculation would be (1,620 / 12) * 8, resulting in a bonus of R$1,080. Apenas whoever worked during the 12 months of 2024 will be entitled to the full amount of a minimum wage.

Operationalization of PIS payments via Caixa

Caixa Econômica Federal remains the financial institution responsible for managing and paying the PIS bonus to workers in private companies. The logistics for releasing funds are organized based on the beneficiary’s month of birth, a consolidated strategy that distributes the flow of withdrawals throughout the year, avoiding overloads on the banking system and branches. The detailed calendar, which will be widely publicized before payments begin, generally starts in February 2026.

Beneficiaries who already have a current, savings or digital social savings account at Caixa Tem receive the credit automatically on the date established for their group. Para the others, the withdrawal can be made using Cartão Social with a password at self-service terminals, lottery outlets or correspondents Caixa Aqui. If you do not have a card, you can make the withdrawal directly at a Caixa branch, presenting an official identification document with a photo.

Release of PASEP for public servants

Payment of the salary bonus for public servants, known as PASEP, is administered by Banco of Brasil. The methodology for this group is different, organized based on the final digit of the server’s registration number in the program, which also allows for a staggered payment.

Servers who are Banco and Brasil account holders generally receive the deposit directly into their account on the scheduled date. Aqueles who do not have an account with the institution should check the available options, which may include transfer (TED) to an account with the same ownership at another bank or withdrawal in person at a BB branch.

Digital channels for consultation and verification

Checking salary bonus eligibility and payment dates has been simplified through the use of technology. Workers can access their information autonomously, quickly and securely, without having to go to a bank branch, which facilitates personal financial planning.

The main tool for this query is the Carteira by Trabalho Digital application, available for Android and iOS systems. Dentro of the application, in the “Benefits” tab, the “Abono Salarial” option allows the user to check their situation, the amount to be received and the scheduled date for the release of funds.

In addition to Carteira of Trabalho Digital, other platforms such as the Gov.br portal and the Caixa Trabalhador application (for PIS) also offer the service. Para or PASEP, the information can be consulted on the service channels of Banco of Brasil. The telephone exchanges of Ministério, Trabalho and Emprego and of paying banks remain available to answer questions.

The importance of data sent by the employer

It is crucial that workers understand that receiving the bonus is directly linked to the accuracy of the information provided by the employer. The company has a legal obligation to transmit its employees’ labor data correctly and within the deadlines established for government databases, whether through RAIS or eSocial.

Final deadlines for withdrawing the benefit

Strict monitoring of the official calendar is essential to guarantee receipt of the salary bonus. Após the release of the amounts, beneficiaries have a specific deadline to make the withdrawal, which traditionally ends on the last business day of December 2026.

Funds not withdrawn within this period are returned to Fundo from Amparo to Trabalhador (FAT). Once this occurs, the worker loses the right to redeem the amount for that base year, making meeting deadlines a fundamental step in the process.
