On December 18, 2025, Mitsubishi Motors announced the improved version of the Delica D:5 minivan, scheduled for launch on January 9, 2026 in the Japanese market. The model receives for the first time the integrated dynamic control system S-AWC (Super All Wheel Control), which increases performance on different types of terrain. The changes cover the exterior, interior and safety equipment, while maintaining the 2.2-liter turbo diesel engine. The new feature reinforces the appeal of the Delica as a versatile minivan with off-road capabilities.
The vehicle maintains its identity as a complete option for families and adventures, combining ample interior space with advanced all-wheel drive. Sales begin at Japanese dealerships shortly after the announcement, with prices between 4,510,000 yen and 4,944,500 yen.
Exterior design updates

The front bumper has been redesigned to preserve the Dynamic Shield’s robust look. The lower ends of the bumpers gained a rounded shape. Isso conveys a greater feeling of strength and off-road capability.
The rear features the Delica logo incorporated into the trim, simplifying the door panel. The rear lights maintain the design, but with reduced tone in the adjacent parts for greater elegance. Arcos wheels gained specific trim and new aluminum wheels, reinforcing the robust appearance.

Modernized and digital interior
The instrument panel becomes fully digital with an 8-inch color LCD screen. The display allows you to switch between classic and enhanced modes, displaying S-AWC information and control levels.
Seats combine water-repellent suede-like material with synthetic leather and khaki stitching. The dark gray center panel resists scratches better. Elementos decorative metallics on the doors and dashboard elevate the premium feel.
S-AWC elevates off-road performance
The main technical highlight is the adoption of S-AWC, which freely controls braking and four-wheel drive. The system integrates torque distribution, active yaw control through braking and ABS and ASC functions.
Four driving modes are available: ECO, NORMAL, GRAVEL and SNOW. The selector has been updated to include Controle from Descida to Declives (HDC), which maintains constant speed on inclines. Isso improves confidence on rough roads, snow and long distances.
S-AWC preserves previous off-road capability and enhances responses on flat dirt and snow surfaces. The control status appears on the digital panel.
Advances in security and convenience
Sistema from Frenagem to Mitigação from Colisões now detects bicycles in addition to vehicles and pedestrians. The Função of Prevenção of Partida Falsa acts in forward and reverse gears against accidental acceleration.
Parking sensors in the front and rear bumpers warn of obstacles with visual and audible signals. The Monitor of Visão 360° has improved image quality by about three times, with additional side and front view screens.
History and popularity of the model
Launched in 2007, the Delica D:5 received a significant update in 2019 with the Dynamic Shield. In 2024, it sold around 22,000 units in the Japão, a record since the current version. In 2025, sales will continue at a higher pace.
The most sought after models include the top of the line P and special editions such as CHAMONIX and BLACK Edition. Esses represent the majority of buyers’ preferences.
The Delica D:5 continues to stand out for its combination of minivan practicality and SUV robustness, meeting demands for versatility in daily use and adventures.
