Ford Performance has officially revealed the new Mustang Dark Horse SC, an even more powerful and performance-focused version of the iconic muscle car lineup. Posicionado strategically placed between the already powerful 500-horsepower Dark Horse and the exclusive 815-horsepower Mustang GTD, this model is designed to cater to enthusiasts looking for a driving experience close to that of a supercar, with engineering geared towards the track.

The vehicle’s highlight is its supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine, coupled to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT). Esta mechanical combination is complemented by a robust set of suspension, aerodynamics and braking system upgrades, designed to withstand the demands of extreme driving and guarantee total control to the rider.

Orders for the new model are scheduled to open in the spring of 2026 in the Estados Unidos, with the first deliveries scheduled for the summer of the same year. Embora to

Details of the new supercharged V8 engine

The beating heart of the Mustang Dark Horse SC is a variation of the acclaimed 5.2-liter V8 engine, known internally as “Predator”, which has already powered high-performance versions such as the Shelby GT500. The addition of a high-flow supercharger guarantees a substantial increase in power and torque across all rpm ranges, providing vigorous acceleration and instantaneous speed recovery. The specific calibration for this model aims to optimize power delivery, maintaining reliability even under intense circuit use. The expectation is that the final power will be in the range of 700 horsepower, establishing a new performance standard for the Mustang line.

To manage all this force, the Ford opted for a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Esse system is known for its extremely fast and precise gear changes, carried out in milliseconds, which is crucial for extracting maximum performance on a track. The transmission allows the engine to always remain in the ideal rotation range, eliminating the time lag common in conventional automatic transmissions and offering the driver a more direct and responsive connection with the vehicle. The assembly was designed to withstand the high torque of the supercharged engine, ensuring durability and consistency lap after lap.

Dynamics and suspension improvements

To ensure the Dark Horse SC is more than just a straight-line muscle car, the Ford has invested heavily in its dynamics. The model is equipped as standard with the latest generation of MagneRide shock absorbers, which use a magnetic fluid to adjust the suspension stiffness in real time. With recalibrated software, the system reads road conditions and the driver’s actions thousands of times per second, adapting to offer maximum grip in curves or comfort on urban roads.

The chassis was reinforced with firmer springs and larger diameter stabilizer bars, both at the front and rear. Essas changes reduce body roll during high-speed corners, keeping the car more stable and predictable. Além In addition, new components in the front suspension have been introduced to improve steering response and feedback transmitted to the driver.

Complementing the set, a tie bar between the front suspension towers, made of lightweight magnesium, increases the structural rigidity of the monocoque. Este component helps maintain optimal suspension geometry under extreme loads, resulting in more precise handling and superior dynamic behavior in any situation.

Functional aerodynamics for maximum performance

Every line and opening on the Mustang Dark Horse SC has been meticulously designed with a functional purpose. The front of the vehicle has been completely redesigned to optimize airflow and cooling of vital components. The central grille opening has been enlarged by 65% compared to the standard Dark Horse, while the side air intakes have doubled in size. Essas modifications not only give it a more aggressive appearance, but also direct a significantly greater volume of air to the engine radiator, supercharger intercooler and front brakes, preventing overheating during track use. The aluminum bonnet, with its prominent openings, was designed to extract hot air from the engine compartment and, at the same time, generate 2.5 times more downforce than the conventional version, pressing the front of the car against the asphalt and increasing grip at high speeds. At the rear, a new air diffuser works in conjunction with the wing to balance aerodynamics, ensuring the vehicle remains stable and planted on the ground, even when approaching its top speed.

The exclusive Track Pack package

For drivers who want to extract the maximum potential from the Dark Horse SC, the Ford offers the optional “Track Pack” package. Este set of equipment transforms the car into an even more focused machine for circuits. The package replaces the 20-inch aluminum wheels with an ultra-light carbon fiber set, developed in partnership with Michelin. Essas wheels drastically reduce unsprung mass, which improves suspension response and vehicle agility.

The tires are also improved, with the inclusion of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R, high-performance compounds developed specifically to maximize grip on dry asphalt. Esses tires are practically street-legal competition models, offering an exceptional level of lateral grip.

The braking system is replaced by a carbon-ceramic set inherited directly from the Mustang GTD. With 16.5-inch discs at the front and 14.5 inches at the rear, they offer resistance to “fade” (loss of efficiency due to heating) that is much higher than steel brakes, allowing stronger and more consistent braking for prolonged periods.

The package also adds a carbon fiber rear wing with an optimized design that, together with other elements, generates more than 280 kilograms of downforce at the rear at 290 km/h. Finally, the Track Pack incorporates a variable traction control system with five levels of intervention, allowing the driver to adjust the car’s behavior according to their driving style and track conditions.

Internal design and customization

The interior of the Dark Horse SC reflects its high performance proposal. The driver is greeted by a straight-based steering wheel covered in leather and Alcantara, inspired by the GTD model, which offers a firmer and sportier grip. Detalhes in authentic carbon fiber are present on the dashboard and center console, reinforcing the competition atmosphere.

As an option, bucket seats from the renowned brand Recaro are available, offering superior lateral support to keep the driver and passenger’s body steady during high-speed cornering. Esses seats can be covered in a combination of leather and Dinamica, a material similar to Alcantara.

Special edition for collectors

To mark the launch, Ford announced “Track Pack Special Edition”, a limited series that combines the Track and Carbon Exterior packs. Esta edition will come with a black painted roof, red brake calipers and exclusive color options such as Shadow Black or Oxford White.

Inside, the Recaro seats receive contrasting Solar Red stitching, and 3D-printed titanium details, derived from the GTD, add a touch of exclusivity. Production will be restricted, making it a coveted item among collectors and brand enthusiasts.

Market and launch expectations

The Mustang Dark Horse SC arrives to reinforce the Ford tradition of creating extreme performance “pony cars”, capable of challenging the best sports cars in the world. Sales will begin at Estados Unidos in 2026, with prices and power data to be confirmed at a date closer to the official launch.
