Toyota officially presented the sixth generation of the RAV4, one of its best-selling models globally, consolidating its position as a reference in the SUV segment. The vehicle, which has sold more than 15 million units since its launch in 1994, returns with significant updates in powertrain, efficiency and technology, aiming to meet the growing demand for electrified vehicles.
The Japanese manufacturer has scheduled the start of orders in selected markets for January, with the first deliveries scheduled for the summer in the northern hemisphere. The new model maintains front- or all-wheel drive options and reinforces the focus on hybrid engines, responding directly to the advancement of electric competitors that have been gaining ground in recent years.
The new generation arrives at a strategic moment, in which the RAV4 seeks to regain leadership in global sales after two years of strong competition. The Toyota bets on the combination of reliability, low consumption and technological innovations to maintain the SUV’s successful trajectory.
External design with modern lines
The look of the sixth generation RAV4 received more aggressive and contemporary lines. The headlights adopt a new format with full LED technology, integrated into a closed front grille with hexagonal patterns that reinforce the brand’s identity. The rear bumper has been redesigned and incorporates a diffuser that improves the vehicle’s aerodynamics, giving it a more robust and sophisticated appearance.
At the rear, the lights have been redesigned and are visually connected, with the model name highlighted on the trunk lid. Essas changes give the RAV4 a more striking presence, without drastically altering its visual DNA. The improved aerodynamic coefficient contributes to reduced fuel consumption and noise at high speeds, while wheels measuring up to 20 inches, available on higher versions, complete the aesthetic package.
Technological and more spacious interior
The RAV4’s cabin has evolved into a more vertical layout, facilitating access to controls. While the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster has been retained, the entertainment system screen has grown to 12.9 inches and now operates with the Toyota’s new ARENE interface, which offers over-the-air updates and advanced smartphone integration. The Toyota Safety Sense package has been expanded to include up to 15 driving assistants, such as autonomous emergency braking and an improved lane-keeping system. Comfort was increased with the inclusion of items such as heated and ventilated seats in top-of-the-line versions, an induction cell phone charger, and a head-up display projected onto the windshield. Legroom in the rear seat has been slightly increased, benefiting the comfort of adult passengers, and soft-touch materials dominate the dashboard and doors, increasing the perception of quality.
More efficient hybrid mechanics
The range of engines maintains the 2.5-liter gasoline engine as a base, combined with optimized electrical units. The conventional hybrid version delivers 183 horsepower with front-wheel drive, being able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8 seconds and recording an average consumption of 4.9 liters per 100 km.
Plug-in hybrid options offer 268 horsepower in front-wheel drive configuration or 308 horsepower with the AWD-i all-wheel drive system. With this engine, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is reduced to just 5.8 seconds in the most powerful version.
The 22.68 kWh battery guarantees a minimum electric range of 100 kilometers in the combined cycle, an impressive number for the category. The recharging system supports up to 11 kW in alternating current (AC) or 50 kW in direct current (DC), allowing you to recover 80% of the charge in approximately 30 minutes.
Adjusted load capacity
The trunk offers a volume of 514 liters in conventional hybrid versions, with practical floor height adjustment. Nas plug-in hybrid configurations, the space is 446 liters due to the presence of the larger battery, but the total volume with the seats folded reaches 672 liters. The flat floor makes it easier to load long objects when the rear seats are folded down, and hands-free access to the luggage compartment is available on mid-range and higher-end versions.
Details about finishes and equipment
The line is structured into four main levels: Advance, Spirit, Limited and GR Sport. Desde the entry-level version Advance, the model already includes 18-inch wheels, parking sensors and heated seats.
The Spirit version adds two-tone paintwork, 20-inch wheels and a panoramic sunroof as an option. The Limited and GR Sport configurations are reserved for the most powerful engines with all-wheel drive.
The sports suspension is a distinguishing feature of the GR Sport version, which also features red interior details and seats with an exclusive design. Placas of aesthetic protection and other visual elements complete the sports package.
Consolidated position in the market
The RAV4 faces stiff competition from models like the Honda CR-V and Hyundai Tucson. In response, the Toyota reinforced electrification and overall refinement in the sixth generation. The brand expects sales growth, supported by tax incentives for low-emission vehicles in several countries.
The combination of proven reliability and low maintenance costs remains the model’s main differentiator. Toyota also offers attractive financing and extended maintenance packages to strengthen its value proposition.
Enhanced security in detail
The Toyota Safety Sense package has been updated to its latest generation, including improved pedestrian detection in nighttime conditions and rear cross-traffic assistance. The body structure uses high-strength steel at strategic points, and preliminary assessments indicate a maximum rating in the main international safety tests. Cortinas side and central airbags complement the passive protection, while the automatic emergency call system has become standard across the range.
Adjusted pricing and availability
Prices on the Europa start at approximately 43,500 euros for the entry-level hybrid version. The most equipped plug-in variant starts at around 46,500 euros, before government incentives are applied. Arrival on the Brazilian market is scheduled for the second half of the year, with schedules and local prices yet to be defined. The pricing strategy keeps the RAV4 competitive against its main rivals, with Toyota offering financing and maintenance packages to attract buyers.
