An emotional reunion marked the recovery journey of Brenno Fernandes Girdziauckas, a 4-year-old boy who overcame a fall from the tenth floor of a building in Ribeirão Preto, in the interior of São Paulo. Duas weeks after being discharged from hospital, the non-verbal autistic boy had his wish fulfilled when he visited his favorite team.
Brenno was received with great affection by the athletes of Botafogo-SP, the first division team of Campeonato Paulista. Acompanhado from his parents, he visited the stadium facilities and witnessed a training session, receiving special gifts that symbolized the support of the sports community.
The story of overcoming little Brenno, who has mobilized the country since the serious accident, culminated in this inspiring meeting. The moment of joy and celebration reflects the strength and resilience of the child, who faced a complex recovery process with remarkable bravery.
The exciting encounter
On Saturday, the 31st, the visit to the Botafogo-SP stadium became an unforgettable day for the boy. Brenno interacted with the players, received a shirt signed by the entire squad and received a glove from goalkeeper Victor Souza, objects that now become symbols of his remarkable ability to overcome.
Carlos Daniel Fernandes, father of Ele highlighted the importance of the affection and support received from the athletes and the coaching staff, stating that this show of solidarity has been a vital force for the entire family.
Recovery journey
The rise of Brenno, which occurred on the 18th of this month, represented a significant milestone in its recovery. The boy underwent an intense period of treatment and several surgeries after the serious accident, which resulted in multiple trauma and bilateral femur fractures in both legs.
Since his hospitalization at the end of December of the previous year, Brenno has demonstrated surprising and continuous medical progress. Ele underwent three consecutive surgical interventions, facing the challenges posed by the fractures with remarkable resilience and impressing the healthcare professionals involved in his case.
Details of the impressive fall
The accident that almost took the life of Brenno happened on December 27th, around 3:30 pm. On that occasion, the boy, who has Transtorno of Espectro Autista and is non-verbal, had access to a bathroom window in the family apartment, located on the tenth floor of a building in Ribeirão Preto. Infelizmente, the window did not have an adequate protective grille, which allowed the fall. The boy’s mother, a psychologist, told the police that she was with her husband near the bedroom when she heard a noise, and when she checked the bathroom and didn’t find Brenno, she immediately associated it with the possibility of a fall. In desperation, he ran to the ground floor of the building, where he found his son on the ground in the common area of the condominium, still conscious, but with serious injuries to his legs. Investigações Preliminaries indicated that, during the fall, the boy collided with an eighth-floor window and the building’s handrail before hitting the ground, factors that may have cushioned the impact and contributed crucially to his incredible survival.
Solidarity and hope
Brenno’s story spread quickly, generating an outpouring of solidarity and prayers across the country. The community’s constant support and the positive impact of his recovery have been a source of encouragement for the family, who express deep gratitude for each gesture of affection and hope received.
