Jeep Compass Blackhawk, engine Hurricane, medium SUV, Stellantis, automotive launch
The Brazilian market for medium SUVs has just received a new strong competitor with the official launch of the Blackhawk version for the Jeep Compass. The model arrives at the top of the range, with the main highlight being the Hurricane 2.0 turbo flex engine, capable of delivering 272 horsepower and 40.8 kgfm of torque. With these numbers, the Compass Blackhawk takes over as the most powerful medium SUV manufactured in the Brasil, promising to redefine performance standards in the category.
The new configuration is offered with a starting price of R$279,990 and replaces the old top-of-the-line versions equipped with diesel engines, such as the Trailhawk and Overland. The Stellantis strategy is clear: focus on performance and technology to attract consumers looking for a versatile vehicle for urban use, but with a strong sporty feel, combined with the brand’s traditional off-road capability.
In addition to the robust engine, the mechanical package is complemented by a nine-speed automatic transmission and the 4×4 Jeep Active Drive Low all-wheel drive system. Essa combination not only guarantees vigorous acceleration, but also maintains the SUV’s competence to tackle different types of terrain, reinforcing the brand’s identity.
Details of the new mechanical assembly
The heart of the Jeep Compass Blackhawk is the Hurricane 2.0 engine, a propellant that already powers other vehicles in the Stellantis group, such as the Ram Rampage pickup truck and the Jeep Wrangler. Construído with aluminum block and head, the engine uses advanced technologies to optimize performance and efficiency, such as direct fuel injection, low inertia twin-scroll turbocharger and electronic relief valve. The adaptation to flex technology, which allows the use of ethanol, gasoline or a mixture of both, was a specific development to meet the demands of the Brazilian market. The result is a quick response to the accelerator in all rev ranges, providing agile and sporty driving. The nine-speed automatic transmission has been recalibrated to work in perfect harmony with the new engine, offering smooth shifts in normal driving and faster shifts when sport mode is activated, making the most of the engine’s potential.
Performance and fuel consumption
Performance is, without a doubt, the main attraction of the Blackhawk version. Segundo official data from Jeep, the SUV is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.3 seconds, with a top speed electronically limited to 228 km/h. Esses numbers place it at a performance level similar to that of some sports cars.
Despite the focus on power, fuel consumption data was approved by the Programa Brasileiro of Etiquetagem Veicular (PBEV) of the Inmetro. Quando fueled with ethanol, the model records averages of 6 km/l in the city and 7.8 km/l on the highway.
With gasoline in the tank, the numbers improve, reaching 8.5 km/l in the urban cycle and 11 km/l on the highway. Esses values are considered adequate for a vehicle with all-wheel drive and more than 270 horsepower.
The 4×4 Jeep Active Drive Low traction system contributes to the model’s versatility. Ele operates on demand and has a power transfer unit that disconnects the rear axle in conditions of good grip, such as dry asphalt, to reduce drag and improve fuel consumption. Quando necessary, traction is automatically reactivated to guarantee maximum grip.
What changes in the look of version Blackhawk
To differentiate the new version from the others, Jeep opted for a look with a sporty appeal and darkened finishes. The seven-slot front grille, an icon of the brand, receives a glossy black finish, as do the logos, the mirror caps and the upper window trim. The 19-inch alloy wheels have an exclusive design and are also painted black, complementing the aggressive look. At the rear, the highlight is the double exhaust outlet, a functional element that reinforces the model’s sporting vocation.
The interior follows the same dark theme. The ceiling and columns are covered in black, creating a more sophisticated and engaging environment. The seats, which combine leather and suede, feature the “Blackhawk” logo embroidered on the backrests, an exclusive signature of the version. The model comes standard with an electric panoramic sunroof, increasing the feeling of space and light in the cabin. The list of convenience equipment is extensive, including dual-zone digital air conditioning and an electrically adjustable driver’s seat.
Technology and standard equipment
The Compass Blackhawk arrives on the market as one of the most technological options in its segment. The instrument panel is fully digital, with a configurable 10.25-inch screen, which displays driving, navigation and sound system information clearly and intuitively.
The multimedia center is the 10.1-inch Uconnect, compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay without the need for wires. The system also integrates the Adventure Intelligence Plus connected services platform, which offers native Wi-Fi, remote vehicle commands via a mobile app and emergency assistance.
The list of standard items also includes an induction cell phone charger, a premium sound system from the Alpine brand with eight speakers and subwoofer, and the Park Assist system, which assists the driver in parking maneuvers in parallel and perpendicular spaces.
Advanced Security Suite
Security is another strong point of the new Jeep Compass Blackhawk. The SUV comes equipped with a full suite of driver assistance technologies (ADAS). Entre The main features are the adaptive cruise control (ACC) with Stop&Go function, which accelerates and brakes the vehicle according to the traffic ahead, being able to stop completely and resume movement.
The autonomous emergency braking system recognizes pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists, acting to avoid or mitigate collisions. The list of safety equipment is complemented by lane keeping assistant, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic detector, automatic high beams, driver fatigue detector and seven airbags (front, side, curtain and for the driver’s knees).
Positioning in the national market
With the launch of the Compass Blackhawk, the Jeep reinforces its leadership in the medium SUV segment, offering a product that clearly stands out for its performance. By replacing the diesel versions with a high-performance flex option, the brand adapts to new market trends, which increasingly value agility and technology. The model competes directly with top-of-the-line versions of competitors such as the Volkswagen Taos Highline and the Toyota Corolla Cross XRX, but with the advantage of offering a significantly more powerful engine and the differential of 4×4 traction.
