Jeep is preparing one of the most significant transformations for one of its most successful models globally. The third generation of the Compass is in advanced development and is scheduled to launch in 2026, marking a complete break with the current model by adopting the new STLA Medium platform from the Stellantis group and offering, for the first time, an all-electric (BEV) version, in addition to hybrid options.

The project aims to modernize the SUV in all aspects, from the engine and onboard technology to the design and interior space, to compete more aggressively in an increasingly electrified market. The architectural change is the central pillar of this evolution, enabling the Compass to not only align with the Stellantis’s electrification strategy, but also deliver superior dynamic performance and energy efficiency.

With the new base, the vehicle will also grow in dimensions, offering more comfort to occupants and greater load capacity. Production will be distributed globally across several factories in the Stellantis group to meet demand from different continents, consolidating the strategic importance of Compass for the brand.

The new STLA Medium platform and its benefits

The foundation of the new generation of Jeep Compass is the modern STLA Medium platform, a modular architecture designed by Stellantis to be the basis for a wide range of C and D segment vehicles. Entre its main features are the 400 volt electrical system, which guarantees quick recharges and high efficiency for the electric versions. The platform was also optimized to maximize internal space, accommodating the battery pack in the floor without compromising the cabin or trunk. Essa configuration lowers the vehicle’s center of gravity, resulting in significant improvements in stability and handling. Além In addition, the torsional rigidity of the structure has been improved, which translates into greater safety in the event of collisions and a more refined drive, with less noise and vibrations.

Engine options for all markets

To meet the diverse regulations and preferences of consumers around the world, the new Compass will offer a diverse engine portfolio. The entry-level version will be equipped with a mild hybrid system (MHEV), which combines a combustion engine with a small electric motor to assist with acceleration and reduce fuel consumption and pollutant emissions.

One step up, the plug-in hybrid version (PHEV) will represent an evolution of the current 4xe system. Ela will allow the vehicle to travel considerable distances in purely electric mode, ideal for daily urban use, while maintaining the versatility of the combustion engine for longer journeys, combining the best of both worlds and maintaining the brand’s characteristic off-road capability.

The big star of the line will, without a doubt, be the 100% electric version (BEV). Esta variant will position the Compass as a strong competitor in the growing electric SUV segment. The Jeep plans to offer configurations with front-wheel drive (FWD) for greater efficiency and autonomy, and with all-wheel drive (AWD), which will use a motor on each axle to guarantee the superior performance in difficult terrain that is expected from a vehicle from the brand.

Exterior design inspired by larger models

The look of the new Jeep Compass will be completely redesigned, taking inspiration from the brand’s larger models, such as the Grand Cherokee and the Wagoneer. The visual identity will be more robust and sophisticated, with the aim of reinforcing the perception of a more premium product. The traditional seven-slot grille will be reinterpreted, with a thinner design and integrated with a horizontal optical assembly with Full LED technology, giving it a more modern and technological appearance.

The dimensions of the SUV will be increased. Projeções indicate that the length will reach approximately 4.55 meters, the width will be 1.92 meters and the height will be 1.67 meters. The increase in wheelbase will also contribute to a more imposing profile and, mainly, to a more spacious interior. At the rear, the lights will also be thinner and connected by a horizontal bar, following current trends in automotive design and reinforcing the vehicle’s sense of width.

Technological interior with more space

The SUV’s cabin will undergo a revolution, with a total focus on technology, comfort and high-quality materials. The dashboard will be dominated by two large floating digital screens, one serving as a fully configurable instrument cluster and the other as the hub of the infotainment system.

This system will be the latest version of the Uconnect from the

The interior finish will use more noble materials, such as soft-touch surfaces, high-quality leather and details in brushed metal or wood, depending on the version. The center console will be redesigned to be more functional, with more storage compartments and a rotary or push-button gear selector.

Thanks to the increased external dimensions and the optimization of the STLA Medium platform, passenger space, especially in the rear seat, will be considerably greater. The trunk will also benefit, with a capacity that can exceed 550 liters, making the Compass an even more practical option for families.

Security and semi-autonomous technology

The new generation of the Jeep Compass will be equipped with a complete package of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). The reinforced structure of the STLA Medium platform already provides a secure foundation, but the onboard technology will take protection to a new level.

Among the expected features are adaptive cruise control with stop & go function, lane keeping assistant, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert. More complete Versões will be able to offer a Nível 2 semi-autonomous driving system, capable of controlling steering, acceleration and braking on highways.

Global strategy and market positioning

Compass is a key pillar in Jeep’s growth strategy in key markets such as América from Norte, Europa and América from Sul. The new generation has the mission to strengthen this leadership position and expand the brand’s presence in the electrified SUV segment.

By offering a complete range of engines, Jeep seeks to meet different consumer profiles and adapt to the environmental legislation of each region. The electric version, in particular, will put the Compass on a direct collision course with strong competitors such as the Volkswagen ID.4, Ford Mustang Mach-E and other electric SUVs that are gaining popularity globally.

Launch and production

The world premiere of the new Jeep Compass is scheduled to take place throughout 2026. Production will be decentralized, with several Stellantis plants around the world being adapted to manufacture the model on the new platform, ensuring a constant supply to the main markets and optimizing the group’s logistics.
