Honda confirmed the launch of an unprecedented configuration for its compact SUV in the Japanese market, focused on performance enthusiasts and aggressive aesthetics. The model, called Vezel RS e:HEV, stands out for incorporating an aerodynamic package developed by Mugen and a structural refinement signed by Yamaha. Sales are scheduled to begin in February, offering consumers an option that combines the efficiency of electrification with a more engaging drive.
Dynamic refinement and motorization
The major technical difference of this version lies in the installation of performance shock absorbers developed by Yamaha. Estes components, installed at the front and rear, function as active stabilizer bars that absorb micro-vibrations and improve the body’s torsional rigidity. The practical result is more precise steering when cornering and greater stability at high speeds, without sacrificing comfort in daily use.
Under the hood, the mechanical package maintains the efficiency of the e:HEV system, consisting of a 1.5 gasoline engine that acts mainly as a generator for two electric motors. The combined power reaches 131 horsepower, with an immediate torque of 25.8 kgfm, ensuring agility in urban traffic. The automatic transmission and throttle mapping have been recalibrated to offer more direct responses in sport driving mode, simulating gear changes to increase the driver’s sense of control.
Aggressive design signed by Mugen
The aesthetics of the sport utility vehicle were profoundly changed with the adoption of a complete body kit from the Mugen sports division. The front features a new, more prominent splitter and an exclusive front grille with the RS emblem, while the sides gain aerodynamic skirts that visually reduce ground clearance. At the rear, an enlarged roof spoiler and a functional diffuser that houses the new exhaust system stand out.
The exhaust system, made of stainless steel, was designed specifically for this model and has double outlets that provide a fuller sound. Completando the external appearance, the vehicle is equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels with an exclusive design and two-tone finish, as well as side decals and mirror covers in glossy black that reinforce the sporty identity of the project.
Interior and standard equipment
The cabin of the new model received special attention to differentiate itself from conventional versions, with the application of noble materials such as synthetic suede and red details on the dashboard and seat stitching. The central infotainment system maintains full smartphone connectivity, while the digital instrument cluster provides specific data on the hybrid system’s energy flow in real time.
In terms of safety, the Honda Sensing package comes standard with all modern driving assistants. The driver has automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistant and traffic sign recognition. The price of the complete package, including aesthetic and structural modifications, raises the value of the vehicle to a higher level in the segment, costing approximately 174 thousand reais in direct conversion from Japanese currency.
