Toyota confirmed the implementation of a relevant technical update for the HiAce commercial vehicle line, focusing on the modernization of occupant and pedestrian protection systems. The model will now feature the latest version of the brand’s preventative technology package, raising the safety standard for the transport and services segment.

The official launch of the new units is scheduled to take place on February 2nd, initially meeting demand from the Japanese market with a series of improvements to onboard sensors and software. The update covers the main configurations of the family, including the van, wagon and commuter versions, which are widely used for urban logistics and passenger transport.

The changes do not alter the vehicle’s external aesthetics or base engine, focusing exclusively on the onboard electronics to mitigate the risk of collisions on daily routes. The automaker’s strategy aims to equip its work models with the same level of assistance found in passenger cars, responding to a growing need for safety in professional traffic.

With the introduction of these new features, the manufacturer hopes to reduce the incidence of common accidents at intersections and busy roads, offering greater peace of mind for drivers who face long journeys behind the wheel. The updated system has been calibrated to identify a wider variety of obstacles, ensuring more precise interventions at critical moments.

Expanding accident prevention capabilities

The main evolution of the utility lies in the expanded capacity of the pre-collision safety system, which can now detect new types of elements on the road. The software has been improved to recognize not only other vehicles, but also pedestrians, cyclists and motorcycles during daytime hours, covering scenarios that could previously go unnoticed by sensors.

The operation of the Pre-Collision Safety involves immediate audible alerts and visual warnings on the instrument panel as soon as a risk is identified by the on-board computer. Caso the driver does not react in time, the system can activate automatic emergency braking to avoid the impact or significantly reduce the damage caused by an imminent crash.

Another important addition is the traffic sign assistant, known as Road Sign Assist, which projects vital information directly onto the driver’s multifunction display. The technology reads speed limit signs and mandatory stops, issuing alerts if the driver runs a red light or enters prohibited roads, keeping attention focused on traffic rules.

Travel and cruise assistance technology

To improve comfort on long journeys and highways, the HiAce received the Radar Cruise Control with tracking functionality at all speeds. The system constantly monitors the distance to the vehicle in front, adjusting acceleration and braking autonomously to maintain a safe space, including completely stopping the vehicle if traffic in front stops moving.

Resuming driving after a complete stop requires only a simple action from the driver, facilitating operation in congestion and heavy traffic situations. Além In addition, cruise control has a curve speed suppression function, which detects the geometry of the road and automatically reduces acceleration to ensure that the vehicle negotiates the road with stability and safety.

Values and settings for the market

The pricing structure for the new line was defined to cover the different needs of commercial and private use, maintaining competitiveness within the medium and large van segment. The van version, aimed at cargo, has prices starting at 286 million yen and can reach higher prices depending on the finishing configuration and load capacity chosen by the customer.

For passenger transport, the wagon variant has a price range that starts at 335 million and 600 yen, reaching up to 447 million and 2600 yen in the most complete options. Já o modelo commuter, destinado ao transporte coletivo ou escolar, situa-se entre 376 milhões e 2000 ienes e 426 milhões e 300 ienes, refletindo a robustez e a capacidade técnica exigida para esse tipo de operação.
