The national automotive scene started the year with an important turnaround at the top of the ranking of medium sports utility vehicles. Após a period of dominance of electrified models at the end of the last cycle, the main representative of Stellantis in the category reacted and regained the first position in terms of registration volume. The segment as a whole demonstrated vigor, recording 30,704 units sold, which represents an increase of 20.2% compared to the same month of the previous year.
The category continues to be one of the most relevant for the industry, accounting for almost 19% of all light vehicles sold in the country. Esse double-digit growth signals a strong demand for family models with greater added value, even in the face of seasonal fluctuations typical at the beginning of the season.
Retaking the lead and competing for the podium
The Jeep Compass registered 4,503 units, guaranteeing first place among medium models. Performance was boosted by the good acceptance of new versions equipped with more powerful engines, allowing a 1.5% increase in sales compared to last year. Essa performance was enough to surpass the BYD Song, which had previously led and now occupies second place with 3,802 units, including the plug-in hybrid versions.
Third place went to the GWM Haval H6, which maintained its commercial consistency by registering 2,628 vehicles. The Chinese model completed nine consecutive months of surpassing the barrier of two thousand units, consolidating itself as one of the main options for those looking for hybrid technology in the national market.
New entrants and veteran growth
The movement in the ranking also highlighted the advancement of newly arrived models and the recovery of traditional names. The Omoda 5, for example, surpassed the thousand registration mark for the first time, reaching 1,067 units in its third full month of sales. The result indicates a rapid acceptance by the Brazilian consumer of new brands that focus on bold design and electrification.
Among the veterans, the highlight was the Volkswagen Taos, which grew more than 80% after its visual update, totaling 1,225 sales. Já o Ford Territory showed the biggest percentage increase among the top ten, with a jump of 39.5% and 851 units sold, reflecting the new positioning of the North American brand.
Scenario in the large and luxury segments
In the large SUV category, the Jeep Commander maintained its hegemony for the fourth month in a row, with 1,330 registrations. The dispute, however, remains fierce, as the Caoa Chery Tiggo 8 appeared right behind with 1,271 units, a difference of just 59 vehicles. The podium in this category was completed by the Toyota SW4, which registered 1,231 sales.
The premium market also showed its trends, with Volvo dominating the entry and mid-range categories. The EX30 model led among luxury compacts with 285 units, surpassing German rivals. In the upper segment, the Porsche Cayenne remains a reference of desire, leading among the most sophisticated vehicles for the ninth consecutive month, despite a lower volume compared to the previous year.
