Toyota confirmed the implementation of a relevant technical update for the HiAce commercial vehicle range, with a focus on modernizing protection systems for occupants and pedestrians. The model will now feature the most recent version of the brand’s preventative technological package, raising the safety standard for the transport and services segment.

The official launch of the new units is scheduled for February 2nd, initially meeting demand from the Japanese market with a series of improvements to sensors and on-board software. The update covers the main configurations of the family, including the van, wagon and commuter versions, widely used for urban logistics and passenger transport.

The modifications do not alter the vehicle’s external aesthetics or the base engine, focusing exclusively on the on-board electronics to mitigate the risk of collisions on everyday journeys. The automaker’s strategy aims to provide its work models with the same level of assistance found in passenger cars, responding to a growing need for safety in professional traffic.

Expanding accident prevention capabilities

The main evolution of the utility lies in the expansion of the capacity of the pre-collision safety system, which can now detect new types of elements on the road. The software has been improved to recognize not only other vehicles, but also pedestrians, cyclists and motorcycles during the day, covering scenarios that could previously go unnoticed by the sensors.

The system’s operation provides immediate acoustic and visual alerts on the instrument panel as soon as a risk is identified by the on-board computer. Caso the driver does not react in time, the technology can trigger automatic emergency braking to avoid the impact or significantly reduce the damage caused by an imminent collision.

With the introduction of these new features, the manufacturer hopes to reduce the incidence of common accidents at intersections and busy roads. The updated system has been calibrated to identify a wider variety of obstacles, ensuring more precise interventions at critical moments.

Travel and cruise assistance technology

To improve comfort on long journeys and highways, the HiAce has received radar cruise control with tracking functionality at all speeds. The system constantly monitors the distance to the vehicle in front, autonomously adjusting acceleration and braking to maintain a safe space, including bringing the vehicle to a complete stop if traffic in front stops.

Resuming driving after a complete stop requires only a simple action from the driver, making driving easier in congested and heavy traffic situations. Além In addition, cruise control has a curve speed suppression function, which detects the geometry of the road and automatically reduces acceleration to ensure that the vehicle faces the route with stability and safety.

Another important addition is the Road Sign Assistant, which projects vital information directly onto the driver’s multifunctional display. The technology reads speed limit signs and mandatory stops, issuing alerts if the driver passes red lights or enters prohibited roads, keeping attention focused on traffic rules.

Values and settings for the market

The price structure of the new line was defined to cover the different needs of commercial and private use, maintaining competitiveness in the medium and large van segment. The van version, intended for cargo, has starting prices of around 2.86 million yen, and can reach higher figures depending on the finishing configuration and load capacity chosen by the customer.

  • Version Furgão (Cargo): Foco in logistics and material transport.
  • Version Wagon (Passengers): Faixa priced between 3.35 million and 4.47 million yen.
  • Version Commuter (Collective): Destinada for school or corporate transportation, ranging between 3.76 million and 4.26 million yen.

The market positioning reflects the robustness and technical capacity necessary for this type of operation, now combined with a security package that seeks to protect both the companies’ assets and the lives of drivers and passengers.
