The Japanese automaker has officially confirmed the arrival of one of its most anticipated models in the country, ending a hiatus of more than two decades. Durante an event held in São Paulo, brand executives presented the technical details and commercial strategy for the launch of the new vehicle, which promises to redefine the sports car segment with a focus on energy efficiency. The presentation highlighted the importance of the Brazilian market in the company’s global strategy, positioning the country as one of the main stages for the reintroduction of this legendary nomenclature.

The model’s return comes after 24 years of absence from the country’s dealerships, a period in which the automotive market underwent profound transformations. Agora, the vehicle arrives as a product imported directly from the Japão, assuming the role of the brand’s “image car”, a position that aims to demonstrate the pinnacle of the manufacturer’s technology and design. Sales are expected to officially begin in the second half of the year, meeting a pent-up demand for coupes that combine tradition and modernity.

This launch not only revives a historic name, but also introduces a new level of electrification to the company’s product line in the Brasil. The model was developed to fill the gap left by the brand’s old sports cars, offering a sophisticated alternative for consumers looking for exclusivity and performance, without giving up the fuel savings provided by modern hybrid systems.

The positioning strategy includes direct competition with premium German brands, targeting customers who traditionally opt for entry-level luxury sedans and coupes. With a robust technological package and a design that evokes nostalgia without looking dated, the bet is to win over both old-generation enthusiasts and new buyers focused on sustainability and innovation.

Mechanical specifications and energy efficiency

The heart of the new coupe is the renowned e:HEV system, a hybrid technology that prioritizes electric traction in most driving situations. The mechanical set is made up of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder combustion engine, which works in synergy with two electric motors. Diferente of conventional hybrid systems, the gasoline engine functions primarily as an energy generator for the batteries, connecting directly to the wheels only at higher cruising speeds, where its efficiency is optimized.

The performance figures revealed by the brand’s engineering are impressive and place the model in a competitive position. The system’s combined power reaches 203 horsepower, while the maximum torque is 32.1 kgfm, available instantly thanks to the characteristics of the electric motors. Essa configuration allows acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 7 seconds, guaranteeing the agility expected from a vehicle with a sporting proposal.

In addition to performance, energy efficiency is one of the major highlights of the project. Dados of homologation indicate that the model is capable of achieving average consumption of up to 18 km/l in urban cycle, a remarkable feat for a car of this size and power. The e-CVT transmission was calibrated to simulate gear changes, providing a more engaging and natural driving sensation for the driver, eliminating the elastic effect common in continuously variable gearboxes.

To ensure vehicle dynamics match power, the double-wishbone front suspension has been refined to offer greater rigidity and cornering precision. The braking system also received special attention, incorporating components from the renowned brand Brembo with four-piston calipers, ensuring adequate stopping power for the car’s sporting proposal.

Aerodynamic design and embedded technology

Visually, the design adopts the “glider” concept, characterized by fluid, clean lines that aim to maximize aerodynamic efficiency. The car’s silhouette is reminiscent of the classic models in the line, but with a contemporary interpretation that includes a low, wide front end, equipped with tapered LED headlights that give it an aggressive expression. The roof, with a gentle slope towards the rear, is made from carbon fiber, a technical solution that reduces overall weight and lowers the center of gravity, improving stability.

Inside, the cabin was designed with total focus on the driver’s experience, adopting a 2+2 configuration that prioritizes the comfort of the front occupants. The sports seats, upholstered in a combination of suede and leather, offer reinforced lateral support for dynamic driving. The instrument panel is fully digital, with a 10.2-inch screen, complemented by a 9-inch multimedia center that features wireless connectivity for smartphones and the integrated built-in Google system.

Safety and comfort on board are reinforced by the Honda Sensing package, which includes the latest driving assistance such as adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking and lane keeping assistant. Para audiophiles, the sound system designed by Bose has 12 strategically positioned speakers, guaranteeing high-fidelity acoustics even at high speeds.

Market positioning and estimated values

The arrival of the model on the Brazilian market is strategically planned to compete with consolidated vehicles from luxury brands, such as the Audi A3 and the BMW Série 2 Gran Coupé. The Japanese manufacturer is betting on the combination of mechanical reliability, low maintenance costs and hybrid efficiency to attract buyers in this premium segment.

Regarding values, initial estimates point to a price range between R$420,000 and R$450,000. The value reflects the technological content shipped and the imported origin of the vehicle, in addition to the current tax burden. The combustion engine has already been calibrated to accept Brazilian gasoline, which has a mixture of ethanol, guaranteeing durability and full functioning of the hybrid system in local conditions.

With a 663-liter trunk (with the rear seats folded down), the coupe also promises versatility for short trips, balancing its sporting vocation with the practicality necessary for occasional use. The expectation is that the model will become an image icon for the brand, paving the way for future electrified launches in the country.
