Lincoln plans to launch a luxury SUV with a spar chassis based on the Ford Bronco platform to compete directly with models such as the Mercedes-Benz Classe G and the Land Rover Range Rover. The two-seat vehicle will combine rugged off-road capability with premium craftsmanship typical of the Lincoln brand, including refined materials and advanced comfort technologies. Fontes indicate that the launch will take place between 2029 and 2030, possibly anticipating elements of the next generation of Bronco, scheduled for 2031.
The design uses the Bronco’s body-on-frame structure to ensure resistance on uneven terrain and high towing capacity. The body will adopt an exclusive design, with smoother lines and a stylized front according to the visual identity of the Lincoln, similar to the Navigator, but in compact proportions. The approximate size is similar to that of the current Nautilus, with a length of approximately 4.8 meters and a wheelbase of around 114 inches.
The premium positioning aims at high prices, possibly above the US$ 94 thousand of the current Navigator and in the range of US$ 115 thousand of the entry-level Range Rover. Esse value reflects the focus on the Black Label finish, with high-standard interiors and extended range hybrid systems (EREV), where the combustion engine acts as a generator for greater efficiency.
Off-road platform and capabilities
The technical base of the Bronco provides advanced 4×4 traction and trail-ready suspensions. The new SUV will maintain these attributes, but with a calibration aimed at comfort in daily urban use.
Elements such as selectable driving modes and terrain management systems will be adapted for the premium audience. The rigid structure allows for greater durability in extreme conditions compared to unibody SUVs.
Design and visual differences
The exterior appearance will avoid a direct copy of the Bronco, prioritizing rounded edges and the front grille characteristic of the Lincoln. Faróis and headlights will follow the brand’s lighting pattern, with a distinct LED signature.
The interior will receive noble materials, such as premium leather and wood or aluminum inserts. Telas Extensive digital and state-of-the-art driver assistance systems complete the luxury package.
Market positioning and competitors
The model fits into the expanding luxury off-road SUV segment, where rivals combine robustness with elevated status. The Mercedes-Benz Classe G maintains iconic tradition, while the Range Rover offers versatility across different terrains.
The Lincoln seeks to differentiate itself with American refinement and hybrid propulsion options. The SUV could influence the current lineup, potentially affecting the Nautilus in terms of proposed size and use.
Strategy from Ford to Lincoln
The initiative is part of the strategy to revitalize the premium division, adding an emotional and differentiated product. A focus on larger vehicles with payload and towing capacity guides the development of EREV technologies.
Production can take place in adapted factories, in line with the transition to electric models in other lines. The project reinforces the separation between affordable electric vehicles and premium combustion or hybrid options.
Expected timeline
Development is progressing based on internal sources, without official confirmation from the automaker. The 2029-2030 deadline allows for integration of future generation Bronco components.
Updates to the current Bronco, such as those in 2026, do not directly impact the Lincoln project. The launch will coincide with market trends for off-road hybrid SUVs.
Engine options
Although specific details remain limited, expect EcoBoost engine carryover from the Bronco, with four cylinders and turbocharged V6. Versões EREV hybrids must predominate to meet efficiency and performance demands.
Permanent all-wheel drive and lockable differentials will maintain the off-road essence. The focus on internal silence and sound insulation differentiates the model from the standard Bronco.
