The German automaker has officially announced the arrival of the third generation of its top-of-the-line sports utility vehicle on the national market. The vehicle arrives at dealerships imported directly from the México, focused on a high-value-added segment and with profound structural changes compared to its predecessor. The manufacturer’s strategy involves offering a highly equipped product from the entry-level version, eliminating the need for complex optional packages.

Available exclusively in the R-Line configuration, the model adopts a new commercial guideline by abandoning the old elongated body that allowed it to accommodate up to seven passengers. The manufacturer chose to align the product offered in the country with the global standard, prioritizing internal space for five occupants, improving the interior finish and adopting more advanced driving technologies to compete in the premium segment.

The suggested price for the sports utility vehicle was set at R$299,990, placing the vehicle in a range contested by traditional luxury brands. Para justify this financial positioning, the brand incorporated a closed package of equipment and specific mechanical characteristics, which include the following technical highlights:

– Tração permanent four-wheel drive with electronic demand management.

– Motorização exclusively recalibrated to deliver best-in-class performance.

– Sistemas of state-of-the-art semi-autonomous assistance integrated from the factory.

Mechanical performance and unique calibration

Under the hood, the sports utility vehicle houses the 2.0 turbo engine from the EA888 Evo5 family, now in 350 TSI calibration. Este mechanical assembly was worked on by engineering to develop 272 horsepower and deliver 35.7 kgfm of maximum torque, numbers that guarantee the title of the most powerful version ever sold in the country under this nomenclature. The engine calibration differs from that offered in other Américas markets, demonstrating a specific adaptation to local requirements.

The eight-speed automatic transmission works together with the 4Motion all-wheel drive system, equipped with an Haldex coupling, which distributes force between the axles according to the need for grip. Toda this engineering applied to the powertrain allows the vehicle to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in exactly 7.4 seconds, ensuring agility when overtaking and regaining speed on highways.

Renewed structural architecture and dimensions

The development of this new generation used the MQB Evo modular platform as a basis, the same technological architecture that supports the most recent versions of the Golf hatch sold in the European market. Essa structural base provided a significant increase in the body’s torsional rigidity, a factor that directly improves directional stability and optimizes weight distribution between the front and rear axles during evasive maneuvers.

In terms of physical proportions, the car underwent a complete resizing to adapt to the new five-seater proposal and maximize individual comfort. The total length now reaches 4.69 meters, while the width measures 1.86 meters and the height is set at 1.69 meters, ensuring a robust visual presence on urban roads and facilitating accommodation in standardized parking spaces.

The wheelbase, a fundamental measurement for determining the useful space of the cabin, was set at 2.79 meters by the designers. Essa dimensão ampliada reflete diretamente no espaço disponível para as pernas de quem viaja no banco traseiro, compensando a ausência da terceira fileira de bancos e permitindo viagens longas com elevado nível de conforto para todos os ocupantes. Engineering also applied new acoustic insulation materials, reducing the invasion of aerodynamic and tire rolling noises at high speeds.

Visual identity and external aesthetic elements

The manufacturer’s design department applied a more aggressive and aerodynamic visual language to the launch’s body, moving away from the conservative lines of the past. The front is marked by headlights with LED technology, which bring a daytime lighting signature fluidly integrated into the upper front grille, creating a nighttime identity that is easily recognizable on the streets.

The front bumper displays the characteristic design of the brand’s sports division, incorporating large functional air intakes and glossy black finishes. Esses darkened details replace the old chrome inserts, giving a more contemporary, dynamic appearance and in line with the current preferences of consumers of high-end sports utility vehicles.

Looking at the vehicle in profile, the visual highlight is the 19-inch diameter light alloy wheels, which completely fill the wheel arches and complement the elongated design of the doors. The panoramic glass sunroof and the roof rack with a darkened finish reinforce the proposal that mixes family aptitude with sporting appeal.

The rear follows current trends in global automotive design, featuring lights interconnected by a continuous LED light bar that runs across the entire trunk lid. The pronounced air diffuser at the bottom of the rear bumper houses the double exhaust outlets, completing the look of the body, which hits the market in seven different solid and pearlescent color options.

Embedded technology and cabin comfort

The internal environment underwent a complete redesign, focused on the digitalization of physical controls and increasing the quality of the covering materials used on the dashboard and doors. The instrument panel is fully digital and configurable by the driver, working together with a new floating multimedia center that has a 15-inch high-resolution touchscreen. Este infotainment system offers fast data processing, native navigation and supports smartphone mirroring via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay without the need for cables, in addition to concentrating the dual-zone digital air conditioning controls in an intuitive interface.

Front seat occupants enjoy seats covered in premium leather, contrasting stitching that reinforces the version’s identity and multiple electrical adjustments. The cabin atmosphere can be personalized through an LED ambient lighting system, which offers up to 30 user-selectable color options, automatically synchronizing with the different driving modes chosen by the driver on the center console. The trunk offers generous volumetric capacity for the luggage of five occupants, with the possibility of expanding the flat floor by lowering the backrest of the rear seat, while the multifunctional steering wheel has paddles for manual gear changes.

Advanced safety and assistance systems

The protection of occupants and the active prevention of traffic accidents were treated as an absolute priority in the development of this project, resulting in the inclusion of a technological package with 12 advanced driver assistance functions. The vehicle leaves the assembly line equipped with adaptive cruise control capable of maintaining the programmed distance from the car in front and stopping completely in heavy traffic, autonomous emergency braking with obstacle detection, and an active lane keeping assistant that gently corrects the steering wheel trajectory if the driver becomes distracted. Para To facilitate daily use in congested urban environments, the automaker installed a semi-automatic parking system that takes control of the steering in parallel and perpendicular spaces, requiring the driver only to control the pedals. The safety package is complemented by blind spot sensors in the exterior mirrors, rear cross traffic alert for reversing out of spaces, six airbags strategically distributed throughout the cabin, state-of-the-art electronic traction and stability controls, and a continuous tire pressure monitoring system.

Commercial strategy and availability in stores

The first units of the sport utility vehicle will begin to be delivered to buyers from May 7th, a date that also marks the beginning of the official presentation actions to the public at the authorized dealer network. The automaker is betting on the combination of an exclusive and powerful mechanical package, a high level of standard equipment without additional charges and construction based on a modern global platform to attract demanding consumers, establishing a new level of technology and performance within its own portfolio of products offered in the national market.
