New Tiguan R-Line 2026 arrives in Brazil with more powerful engine

This Tuesday, Volkswagen presented the third generation of the Tiguan at the Brasil. The SUV arrives at dealerships in May imported from the México and is positioned as the brand’s top-of-the-line model in the country. Ele will be offered exclusively in the R-Line version with five seats, 4Motion all-wheel drive and a suggested price of R$299,990.

The model abandons the seven-seat configuration of the previous generation to adopt dimensions more in line with global standards. Agora the Tiguan measures 4.69 meters in length, 1.86 meters in width, 1.69 meters in height and 2.79 meters in wheelbase. Ele will be available in seven exterior color options.

Most powerful engine in the history of the Tiguan in the country

The new Tiguan 2026 uses the 2.0 turbo EA888 Evo5 engine in 350 TSI calibration. Ele delivers 272 hp of power and 35.7 kgfm of torque, which represents the highest performance ever recorded in an Tiguan sold in the Brasil.

The mechanical package includes an eight-speed automatic transmission and 4Motion all-wheel drive with the Haldex system. According to the manufacturer, the SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds.

This engine differs from that offered in other Américas markets and reinforces the model’s premium positioning in the medium-large SUV segment.

MQB Evo platform ensures greater rigidity and refinement

Volkswagen built the Tiguan 2026 on the MQB Evo platform, the same one applied to the latest generation Golf. Essa architecture allows for greater torsional rigidity and better weight distribution.

The result appears in the dynamic behavior, with more precise steering responses and greater stability in high-speed curves. The suspension has also been recalibrated to balance comfort and sportiness.

The engineers also improved the cabin’s acoustic insulation. The model reduces wind and rolling noise at high speeds.

Exterior design with R-Line elements

The look of the new Tiguan adopts LED headlights with a light signature integrated into the grille. The front bumper gains a more aggressive design typical of the R-Line version, with glossy black details.

On the side, 19-inch alloy wheels complement the elongated profile. The rear features taillights connected by a light bar and a pronounced diffuser with double exhaust outlet.

The aesthetic package includes a panoramic sunroof, electrically folding mirrors and a black roof rack.

Interior with 15-inch multimedia center

The cabin of the Tiguan 2026 features a configurable digital dashboard and a floating multimedia center with a 15-inch screen. The system supports wireless connectivity with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The front seats are finished in leather with contrasting stitching and electrical adjustment. Há also has ambient lighting with up to 30 color options that can be synchronized with the driving mode.

The trunk offers generous capacity for five occupants, with the possibility of expansion by lowering the rear seat. Soft-touch Materiais cover most of the center console.

Expanded driving assistance technologies

The safety package includes 12 advanced driver assistance functions. Entre they are adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking and lane keeping assistant with active correction.

The semi-automatic parking system makes maneuvering in tight spaces easier. Sensores blind spot and rear cross traffic alert complete the set of standard equipment.

The Tiguan 2026 also has six airbags, stability control and tire pressure monitoring.

Equipment details and color options

The R-Line version comes standard with two-zone digital air conditioning, face key and push-button start. The multifunctional steering wheel with paddle shifts allows manual gear changes.

Buyers can choose from seven body colors. The list includes solid and pearlescent tones that enhance the SUV’s exterior design.

Volkswagen begins deliveries of the first units from May 7th. On the same date, the dealerships open their doors for the presentation event to the public.

Comparison with the previous generation

The current model abandons the seven-seat Allspace configuration and gains greater power than its predecessor. All-wheel drive returns as standard, which increases capacity on low-grip surfaces.

The longer wheelbase contributes to greater legroom for rear occupants. Internal refinement also evolves with new materials and greater attention to assembly details.

These changes position the Tiguan 2026 as the most modern option within the Volkswagen portfolio in the SUV segment.

Expectation of market positioning

The price of R$299,990 puts the Tiguan in direct competition with other medium-large SUVs equipped with a turbo engine and 4×4 traction. The model seeks to attract customers who value performance, technology and global construction.

The brand’s dealership network is already taking reservations and awaiting the official start of sales. Volkswagen relies on a robust mechanical package and technological package to differentiate the product.

The new Tiguan arrives on the Brazilian market with a focus on consumers looking for a versatile sports utility vehicle with a high level of equipment.
