The compact electric hatch will undergo complete restyling with updates to the external and internal design. The entry-level GS version will receive a more powerful engine that significantly increases performance compared to the current model.

The next batch imported from China should already incorporate the main changes. The model maintains a relevant position in the affordable tram segment in the country. The changes aim to maintain competitiveness against rivals that are advancing in the 100% electric hatchback market.

Changes to the external design of the Byd Dolphin 2027

The facelift brings new front headlights with an updated light signature. The front bumper also receives a revised design to give the whole a more modern look.

At the rear, the lights gain a new shape that harmonizes with the visual identity of the automaker’s Ocean line. The total length of the body increases slightly to around 4.29 meters while the width, height and wheelbase remain practically the same.

These external modifications reinforce the vehicle’s urban appeal without radically altering its compact proportions. The registration of patents at INPI already confirms that BYD is working on adapting it for the national market.

Engine and performance updates

The GS version of the Dolphin 2027 will adopt the electric motor from the Yuan Pro, which delivers 177 hp of power and 29.5 kgfm of torque. Esse set represents a significant gain compared to the 95 hp and 18.3 kgfm of the current entry configuration.

The battery capacity in the GS increases from 44.9 kWh to 45.1 kWh. In the Chinese CLTC cycle, the declared autonomy reaches up to 410 km although the official number for Inmetro has not yet been released for Brasil.

Version Plus maintains the 204 hp engine and 31.6 kgfm of torque with a 60.5 kWh battery. A special series must also integrate the portfolio with the same set as the top of the line.

  • GS 2027 engine: 177 hp and 29.5 kgfm
  • GS battery: 45.1 kWh
  • Engine Plus: 204 hp and 31.6 kgfm
  • Battery Plus: 60.5 kWh

Changes to the interior and safety equipment

The interior receives an updated steering wheel and a fixed multimedia center that eliminates the rotating function present in the current model. The instrument panel is also undergoing revisions to improve ergonomics and information reading.

Advanced driving assistants package should come as standard or as an option in some versions. Itens as well as six airbags, traction and stability controls, hill start assistant and ISOFIX mounting for child seats are still present.

BYD has not yet confirmed official prices for the 2027 line. Hoje or Dolphin GS starts at around R$149,990 while the Plus is around R$184,800 depending on the region and promotional conditions.

BYD’s strategy for the compact electric segment

The launch of the Dolphin 2027 occurs at a time of greater competition in the electric hatch segment in the Brasil. The automaker seeks to reinforce the model’s positioning as a versatile option for urban and fleet use.

The Camaçari factory at Bahia concentrates production on other brand vehicles such as the Dolphin Mini. Therefore, the Dolphin 2027 should continue to arrive imported from China at least initially.

The mechanical and visual updates aim to balance performance, autonomy and cost to attract both private users and app drivers who adopt electric vehicles on a large scale.

Technical details and autonomy expectations

BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 platform continues to form the basis of the vehicle, ensuring structural rigidity and energy efficiency. The fast charging system allows you to recover 30% to 80% of the battery in around 30 minutes at compatible stations.

Although the exact autonomy per Inmetro for the new configurations is not yet available, experts estimate that the GS 2027 should be around 300 km in a Brazilian mixed cycle. Esse number represents progress compared to the current 291 km of the entry-level version.

The model preserves features that contributed to its success, such as agile handling, adequate interior space for four adults and a functional trunk for everyday use.

Competition and market positioning

The Dolphin 2027 arrives to face rivals that have recently gained space in the segment. Modelos and Geely EX2 put pressure on BYD especially in the more affordable price range of electric cars.

The Chinese automaker’s strategy includes maintaining competitive prices combined with an updated technology package. Detalhes Final information on equipment and values should be revealed closer to the official launch.

BYD does not confirm an exact date for the start of sales, but industry sources indicate that the second half of 2026 is the most likely period for the debut in dealerships.
