Dune: Part 3 IMAX 70mm tickets sell out in minutes on pre-sale
Tickets for the IMAX 70mm screenings of Duna: Parte Três go on sale this Monday, April 6, 2026, in select theaters around the world. Warner Bros. Pictures made seats available only for single daily sessions at 7pm local time during the opening weekend between December 17th and 20th. Poucas hours after the start of sales, the majority of tickets were already sold out, with no new availability announced so far.
The high demand reflected the interest in the third chapter of the saga directed by Denis Villeneuve. Cinemas in cities such as Los Angeles, Nova York, Londres and Vancouver registered rapid sell-out, including reports of sessions selling out in less than two minutes in iconic venues.
- Four cinemas in Los Angeles participated in the first sales phase
- Two cinemas in São Francisco also had tickets released
- Other locales include Vancouver, Dallas, Miami and Londres
Intense demand for premium format
The tickets released were exclusive to 70mm film projections in participating IMAX theaters. Essa configuration offers superior image and sound quality, attractive to fans of the franchise who seek the most immersive cinematic experience possible.
The advance sale took place eight months before the official release date. The film hits theaters on December 18, 2026, with distribution from Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures.
Cast and plot of the film
Dune: Parte Três continues the story of Imperador Paul Atreides, played by Timothée Chalamet. The character faces the consequences of his holy war, trapped in a cycle of violence and confronted by conspiracies from different factions, including Bene Gesserit, Tleilaxu and his wife Irulan.
The cast also includes Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Javier Bardem, Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor-Joy, Rebecca Ferguson and Jason Momoa, which returns as Hayt. The production maintains the epic tone of previous adaptations based on the work by Frank Herbert.
High expectations after trailer
The announcement of pre-sale tickets came weeks after the release of the film’s first official trailer. The release generated great repercussion among the public, reinforcing the sequel’s status as one of the most anticipated releases of the year.
Participating theaters confirmed that the initial offer included a free collectible film tape per ticket purchased at qualifying screenings, while supplies last. Essa strategy aimed to enhance the experience of first buyers.
Limited format and global demand
Only 19 cinemas around the world offered sessions in IMAX 70mm in the initial sales phase. The limitation of the premium format partly explains the speed with which seats were reserved, even with the launch still far away.
Fans reported difficulties accessing the sales sites due to high traffic at the time of opening. Algumas specific theaters, such as the BFI IMAX at Londres, sold out in record time.
Next steps for distribution
Warner Bros. has not yet detailed when new screenings or additional tickets will be released for the film. The studio must monitor demand to expand the offering of IMAX screenings in the coming months.
Dune: Parte Três represents the final chapter of the film trilogy that began in 2021. The production promises to deepen the political and personal conflicts started in the previous parts, maintaining the focus on the visual scale characteristic of the saga.
