The world’s most powerful electric car charger arrives at Brasil in June. BYD will install the first 1,500 kW Flash Charging station at an Denza dealership in Brasília. The equipment works with the BESS system, which stores energy to deliver high power without overloading the local electrical grid.
The technology already exists in installations at China. The charger only serves vehicles equipped with the second generation Blade battery. Ele promises to drastically reduce recharging times compared to current models available in the country, which average 350 kW.
Estação uses energy storage to avoid grid impact
The BESS, or Battery Energy Storage System, acts as a giant reservoir of electricity. Ele connects to the common electrical network and charges its batteries in a gradual and controlled manner. Quando the vehicle arrives for recharging, the system releases a large amount of energy in a short space of time.
Isso prevents voltage drops or excessive heating in transformers and cables in the region. Traditional electrical infrastructure was not designed for rapid, concentrated megawatt peaks. Sem the BESS, frequent use of such powerful chargers could require expensive network reinforcements, such as changing cables or new substations.
BYD has already tested the concept on Zhengzhou, on China. The equipment has a suspended T shape and has the Zero Gravity system. The hose moves easily to any side of the car and keeps cables off the ground. The connection standard follows CCS2 in direct current.
- The charger delivers up to 1,500 kW in a single connector
- Ele allows recharging from 10% to 70% in five minutes under ideal conditions
- Battery goes from 10% to 97% in nine minutes with the second generation Blade
- At temperatures of -30ºC, the time from 20% to 97% is 12 minutes
- BESS stores energy to support peak-free transfer on the grid
Ultra-fast Recarga depends on new Blade battery
BYD’s second-generation Blade battery has received improvements after six years of development. Energy density increased by 5% compared to the previous version. The brand created high-speed channels for lithium ions and a more efficient thermal management system.
Esses advances reduce internal heat during high power recharging. BYD claims that electric car owners prioritize charging speed over maximum range. The new battery meets this demand without compromising the safety characteristic of Blade technology.
The Denza Z9 GT will be the first model to use the battery in the Brasil. Ele arrives in June with 102.3 kWh or 122.5 kWh options. Range can reach 1,036 km on the Chinese CLTC cycle in the most capable configuration. The top version has three engines and a power of close to 1,140 hp.
Initial Instalação on Brasília and expansion plan
BYD’s first Flash Charging station in the country will be located at the Denza dealership in Brasília. The equipment will supply the Z9 GT from launch. The brand projects at least a thousand chargers of this type to be installed by the end of 2027.

The expansion follows the growth of the fleet of compatible vehicles. Nem all BYD models support maximum power of 1,500 kW. Carros with smaller batteries, such as the Dolphin Mini, are limited to 40 kW direct current. The Flash Charging only appears on vehicles prepared for high energy transfer.
Na China, BYD plans 20 thousand stations by the end of 2026. Parte of them already operates. The country leads the development of infrastructure for high-performance electric vehicles.
Como charger compares to those available today
The fastest public chargers in the Brasil today deliver an average of 350 kW. BYD’s new system multiplies this capacity by more than four times. The suspended design makes it easy to use and reduces the risk of cable damage.
The digital panel shows recharging progress in real time. The reinforced connector supports the high currents required for the advertised power. The combination of BESS, second generation Blade battery and Flash charger forms a complete ecosystem.
The technology still faces limitations. The speed drops after 70% or 80% charge because the battery accepts less current when almost full. Very low Temperaturas also increases the time required. Mesmo thus, the gain compared to current standards is significant.
Detalhes system technicians Flash Charging
The charger operates on high voltage architecture. Ele uses liquid cooling in the cables to handle high current without overheating. BYD’s BESS includes sodium-ion batteries in some versions in the China, with storage capacity in the megawatts.
No Brasil, the initial focus will be on installing the Denza in points of sale. BYD’s premium brand should receive the first equipment. Outras BYD dealerships may gain similar stations in the coming years as the fleet grows.
The arrival of the charger reinforces the company’s investment in the Brazilian market. BYD already produces vehicles in the country and expands its service network. The Flash Charging represents a step towards reducing the main barrier perceived by electric car consumers: recharging time.
