Ubisoft has relocated approximately 50 developers from Assassin’s Creed Hexe project. The measure took place last week. The game is still scheduled for June 2027, but sources indicate a chance of being postponed until the end of the year.

Jean Guesdon, who took over creative oversight of the franchise earlier this year, is leading the changes. The studio removed the feline companion feature. The production now prioritizes a more realistic approach to the theme of witchcraft. The protagonist understands the science behind chemical substances, such as the manufacture of smoke bombs that simulate disappearances for ordinary citizens.

Realocação for interproject team

The professionals were transferred to the Interproject team from Ubisoft. Essa unit houses developers without active project. Eles has a period of three months to be allocated to another production. Caso otherwise may face dismissal.

The decision came just days after the cancellation of another unannounced project, called Alterra. Fontes close to the subject link the movement to budget adjustments in Hexe. The objective would be to keep the project within the expected financial limits.

Mudança in witchcraft concept

The new direction eliminates more fantastical elements. Instead of mechanics with a feline companion, the title focuses on a narrative anchored in chemical and scientific knowledge of the time. The story takes place in the 17th century, during witch trials in Sacro Império Romano.

Essa’s turnaround occurred following the departure of Clint Hocking, former creative director, in February. Benoit Richer, who served as the game’s director, also recently left the studio to found an indie studio called Servo Games along with other former employees.
