The Vellfire sedan, created by students from Japan Automobile College (NATS), receives new modifications at the rear and continues to evolve continuously. The project, initially presented at Tokyo Auto Salon 2026, is now undergoing adjustments for its participation in Toyofest Japan 2026, an exclusive event for Toyota and Lexus vehicles scheduled for May 30 at Fuji Speedway.

Tomoyoshi Fukazawa, head of Departamento of Personalização of NATS Narita School, documented the work on his X account in April. The first update, published on April 25, announced the replacement of the hood seal in preparation for the event. Cinco days later, announced that work had begun on the rear bumper, transplanting a spoiler diffuser from an Lexus ES300.

Traseira gains robustness and sporty presence

The modification to the rear section marks a significant visual transformation in the project. The front end conveyed a serene impression, befitting a luxury sedan. The new version, equipped with a rear diffuser, emphasizes a sportier look and reduces the visual perception of the center of gravity.

The new diffuser adds a three-dimensional effect to the lower part of the rear bumper and integrates perfectly with the design of the exhaust tips, both on the left and right sides. Essa solution accentuates the vehicle’s wide stance and significantly increases the imposing presence when viewed from behind. The work is nearing completion to meet the Toyofest schedule.

Innovative Conceito based on radical transformation

The Vellfire Sedan was born from a challenging question: what would happen when transforming a minivan into a sedan? The project used as a base the fourth generation Lexus LS460, which has a front engine and rear wheel drive. The students took a bold approach, fusing design elements from the Vellfire into the luxury sedan platform.

Não was a simple exchange of external panels. Diversas body parts were manufactured from sheet metal. The hood, fenders and front end received extensive redesigns, resulting in a natural VIP style. The reduction in overall height gave the vehicle a low center of gravity, while the large front grille ensures an imposing presence.

Interior is finished in white tones, creating a VIP atmosphere worthy of a luxury sedan. The level of refinement allows unrestricted circulation on public roads, transcending the category of just an aesthetic concept.

Reconhecimento of the industry and continuous evolution

Seu impact impressed automotive experts. No Tokyo Auto Salon 2026, Toyota Motor President Akio Toyoda commented on the vehicle: “That’s interesting” and “Maybe I’ll copy that.” The comment reflected the innovative potential of the project developed by students.

The Vellfire sedan received a vehicle inspection in February 2026 and obtained official registration. Passou for repeated driving tests, and in March images of the vehicle driving on public roads were released, including the Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line.

Ganhou award for “Best Carro of Demonstração” at the Hotsprings event, held on March 22 by WORK. The level of finish exceeded typical expectations for a vehicle produced by students, generating praise from evaluators.
