Imagens from exclusively obtained security cameras shows the complete chronology of the crime against Ana Clara of Oliveira, aged 21, who had his hands cut off by brothers Evangelista Rocha of Santos, aged 34, and Ronivaldo Rocha of Santos, aged 40, in Quixeramobim, in Ceará. The record captures the moment when Ronivaldo questions his brother after the attack: “Did you kill him?” The two were arrested hours after the attack that occurred last Friday.
The victim suffered serious injuries during the night. Além her hands were amputated, she received deep cuts on her shoulder, leg and elbow. Prisões performed in different cities
Evangelista was captured on Friday in a property in the Conjunto Esperança neighborhood, in Quixeramobim. Agentes located objects related to the crime at the scene, including the sharp instrument used in the attack. The police operation took place hours after help was called by the victim who was screaming for help.
Ronivaldo was later located in the municipality of Madalena, Cajazeiras neighborhood, approximately 63 kilometers away from Quixeramobim. Ele was identified and captured after search and tracking work by security teams. Ambos were taken to Delegacia by Polícia Civil by Quixeramobim and charged with the crime of attempted feminicide.
Successful reimplantation Cirurgia
Delegate William Lopes confirmed on Saturday that both hands were successfully reimplanted. The victim underwent emergency surgery after initially being taken to the UPA of Quixeramobim and then transferred to Hospital Regional of Sertão Central in the same city. Posteriormente, it was forwarded to Instituto Dr. José Frota in Fortaleza, where the procedure was performed.
“The hands have been reimplanted. Graças to Deus and the medical team. May justice be done and may she restore her full health,” said the delegate. Ele reinforced his gratitude for the professionals’ dedication: “Congratulations, you exceeded expectations, but you were guided by Deus.”
In an official note, Instituto Dr. José Frota reported that the patient remains hospitalized in the ICU receiving the necessary care for the evolution of the clinical condition. The upper limb reimplantation procedure is considered highly complex and requires intensive monitoring in the following days.
Contexto domestic violence
According to the investigation, Ana Clara had a relationship of approximately two years with Ronivaldo. Testemunhas reported that the relationship was troubled and there had already been other episodes of domestic violence between the couple before this attack. The crime occurred after an argument that began in the early hours of Friday and quickly escalated into violent action.
In a custody hearing held on Saturday, Justiça decided to keep the two suspects in preventive custody. The decision was based on the seriousness of the crime and the risk of repetition.
Reação of authorities
The governor of Ceará, Elmano of Freitas, spoke out on social media classifying the crime as “barbaric”. Ele congratulated the police officers for their quick action: “Our police officers acted quickly and arrested two men involved in a barbaric crime of violence against women, in Quixeramobim: a young woman was attacked with a scythe by her ex-partner and his brother.”
Secretaria of Segurança Pública highlighted that the captures occurred after obvious work by the security forces. The case is part of a series of episodes of extreme violence against women recorded on Ceará in a recent period.
