Resident Evil Requiem’s final puzzle was solved in just four days. The speed surprised even the Capcom development team, who had planned a much longer challenge to solve.

Akifumi Nakanishi, the game’s director, admitted in an interview that he waited at least two weeks before someone solved the mystery. The community, however, managed to solve it in a fraction of the expected time, with the help of datamining techniques that revealed information hidden in the game’s code.

Expectativa initial versus reality

“Wow, that was quick,” Nakanishi commented during the interview. Ele revealed that he faced constant concerns during development about the puzzle’s viability. Dentro team, there was widespread skepticism that anyone could actually solve the proposed sequence.

The director cited a similar precedent in Resident Evil 7. A previous puzzle had been solved within hours of release, frustrating internal expectations. Based on this experience, Nakanishi was even more cautious when designing the final puzzle for Requiem.

Masato Kumazawa, the game’s producer, reacted with surprise to the news. “When I heard about this from Nakanishi, I said, ‘No way, no one is going to be able to solve this!'” His initial reaction reflected confidence in the complexity of the proposed challenge.

Sequência extremely elaborate steps

The final puzzle required a series of seemingly arbitrary actions that tested not only logical reasoning, but also the player’s persistence and creativity. The complete solution involved multiple steps:

  • Chegar to treadmill and crusher in the basement of the site
  • Aguardar 15 minutes doing nothing, allowing the treadmill to empty of bodies
  • Pular in the crusher and survive for a few additional minutes
  • Desviar of zombies that rose up inside the crusher without eliminating them
  • Retornar to the hospital bathroom after escaping
  • Acionar flushes the toilet eight times in a row
  • Compreender that the number eight was marked in blood inside the bathroom as a visual clue

The logic of the sequence remained cryptic even for experienced players. Parte from the community developed the theory that the goal was to supply the crusher with enough blood to flood the system and make a doll emerge to the surface. Capcom has not yet officially confirmed this interpretation of events.

Recompensa and solution impact

Once the entire sequence was completed correctly, the result was only accessible in subsequent playthroughs. The player could then reunite the doll with the character Emily, complete the symbol puzzle using both characters and, at the end, receive a special message along with 20 thousand units of the game’s currency.

The feat, even accelerated by the application of datamining, demonstrates the level of engagement of the fan base with the franchise. Resident Evil has a consolidated tradition of hiding secrets that collectively challenge the community, transforming each release into a shared puzzle that unites players around a common goal.

The quick resolution of the final puzzle reinforces this dynamic and puts into perspective how much the community has evolved in terms of techniques for analyzing and exploring digital content in recent years.
