James Broadnax, convicted of double homicide, was executed by lethal injection last Thursday (April 30) in prison at Texas. Sua British wife, Tiana Krasniqi, repeatedly screamed “I love you!” while observing the proceedings through the execution chamber window. The woman threw herself against the glass with her arms outstretched as the rapper gasped and shook his head one last time before he was pronounced dead after 21 minutes.

Tiana released a video on TikTok after the execution denouncing her husband’s suffering. Ela reported that Broadnax experienced nosebleeds and neck bruising during the lethal injection. The British woman, a graduate of Direito, questioned the procedure: “They killed my husband. The families laughed as they watched. Is Isso justice?”

Condenação challenged by the rapper

Broadnax was convicted by Justiça of Texas for the death of two men during a robbery in 2008. The rapper declared himself innocent and claimed to have been harmed during the trial because his lyrics were misinterpreted and used as evidence against him. The defense questioned the validity of the conviction, but appeals were exhausted without success.

Tiana argues that her husband did not receive a fair trial. Her training in Direito Humano led her to investigate the case and publicly defend the innocence of the convicted man. The case generated repercussions on social media and among activists against the death penalty.

Relacionamento initiated in prison

The couple began their relationship through correspondence. Tiana exchanged letters with Broadnax while studying for a master’s degree at Direito, a period that lasted more than two years. The two were married in prison on April 14, just 16 days before the execution. The relationship consolidated during incarceration demonstrated mutual commitment despite adverse circumstances.

The British woman began to closely monitor her husband’s legal situation. Ela used his academic training to question procedures adopted in the trial and raise doubts about the conviction. The bond between the two grew stronger in the last years of their imprisonment.

The death penalty has been abolished in 23 of the 50 American states. Três states — Califórnia, Oregon and Pensilvânia — maintain a moratorium on its application. Most states that carry out executions use lethal injection as their primary method. The discussion about the constitutionality and humanity of capital punishment remains active in state and federal legislatures.
