Fox McCloud returns in a new adventure. Nintendo yesterday confirmed the release of Star Fox for Nintendo Switch 2, bringing a modern reimagining of the 1997 classic to the next-gen console. The title arrives on June 25, 2026 and is already considered one of the most anticipated of the year for the platform.
The franchise, which began on Super Nintendo in 1993, will fill a significant void in Switch’s catalog. Desta instead, the game will be an updated version of Star Fox 64, preserving the original structure while completely revamping the visual presentation and characters.
Classic Estrutura with cinematic look
The new Star Fox maintains the philosophy of its predecessor: space combat missions, iconographic scenarios and challenges based on alternative routes. The environments known as Corneria, Zoness and Sector Y were recreated with a greater level of detail. Personagens and Slippy Toad gain more realistic versions, while the soundtrack was orchestrated especially for the experience.
The cinematic approach is present in fully dubbed scenes and renewed briefings between phases. The campaign once again pits Fox McCloud and his team against scientist Andross on a mission to save the Lylat system. Traditional radio interactions during missions return, maintaining the essence of the original series.
Jogabilidade with new vehicles and controls
Players will pilot the iconic Arwing performing classic maneuvers: barrel rolls, boosts and somersaults to escape attacks and dominate aerial battles. Além of the traditional ship, it will be possible to control other types of vehicles, including a new submarine for the franchise.
The main campaign offers alternative paths within the Lylat system. Dependendo From the actions performed, players can unlock different stages and missions. Três difficulty modes will be available: Easy, Normal and Expert, with medals unlocking additional levels.

Official confirmation arrived during a surprise Direct on Wednesday night, generating immediate anticipation among fans who have followed the franchise since its original launch on Super Nintendo over three decades ago.
Fox McCloud’s appearance in the film Super Mario Galaxy, released in March, had left clues about the return of the franchise. Aquela’s participation served as an unofficial preview for what would be announced later, fueling speculation in the gaming community about what the next project involving the space pilot would be.
