Samsung has released the One UI 8.5 update, a version that rewrites significant components of the operating system on its devices. The company has published a precautionary guide recommending that users follow checks before installation, as large-scale updates can lead to faulty installations, excessive battery consumption or data loss if performed incorrectly. Samsung’s recent update history has improved considerably in One UI 8.x releases, but software implementations are never completely foolproof.

Armazenamento available and device wipe

One UI 8.5 requires a significant amount of data during the installation process. The initial download is large, but the real demand occurs when the system decompresses files and rebuilds critical partitions on the device. If storage is close to maximum capacity, the installation may stop and cause irreversible errors. Usuários must eliminate unnecessary files, unused applications and duplicate media before starting the update download.

Backup complete as safety net

Executar backup is the main protection against information loss during updates. The procedure takes just a few minutes, but failure to do so can result in hours of recovery or permanent data loss in critical scenarios. The backup must include:

  • Fotos and videos stored locally on the device
  • Contatos, agenda and calendar information
  • Mensagens text and chat communication apps
  • Documentos, personal files and spreadsheets
  • Configurações of applications and passwords saved in the browser

Samsung recommends using Samsung Cloud or Google Drive to synchronize critical data before any large-scale operating system upgrades.

Nível battery above 60% during entire installation

Manter the high battery level is essential to avoid interruptions during the process. An update interrupted by a power outage can corrupt the entire operating system, leaving the device stuck at the boot screen. The recommendation is to keep the battery above 60% and, ideally, leave the cell phone plugged in during the entire installation process, which can last several minutes depending on the model.

Temperatura controlled and suitable environment

Excessive heat is a silent problem during software updates. Instalar One UI 8.5 on a device that is heated due to intensive use of the camera or games compromises the execution of the process and can generate performance limitations or visual glitches, such as the appearance of colored lines on the screen. The device must cool down completely before any update attempts. Recomenda – Wait at least 30 minutes after intensive use before starting the download.

Stable and dedicated network Conexão

Baixar a multi-gigabyte update using mobile data presents high risks of interruption and packet corruption. Unstable Conexões Wi-Fi also hampers the download and may force unwanted restarts. A reliable Wi-Fi network, preferably a home network, is essential to ensure that the file reaches the device in one piece without fragmentation or transmission errors.

Atualização preview of installed applications

Desenvolvedoras frequently releases compatibility updates in sync with major versions of Android and One UI. Antes before installing version 8.5, users must update applications on both Galaxy Store and Google Play Store, avoiding compatibility conflicts that may arise after installing the new operating system.

Samsung reiterates that users should not rush the installation just because an update notification appears. The recommendation is to free up disk space, make a complete data backup, connect the device to the electrical outlet and check all technical prerequisites before clicking the update confirmation button.
