Kylian Mbappé was once again the center of attention at Espanha for reasons far from his performances on the pitch. The French striker, who did not participate in the derby against Barcelona this Sunday because of a muscle injury, caused severe anger among Real Madrid fans after a post on his social networks. The episode occurred while the Madrid team lost 2-0 at Camp Nou, a result that confirmed the Spanish title for the Catalan rival.
The relationship between the star and the merengue fans is going through its most critical moment since his arrival in the Spanish capital. The player took advantage of the recovery period to travel to Itália, where he met his girlfriend, while his teammates played the most important match of the national season. When trying to demonstrate remote support for the squad led by Carlo Ancelotti, the athlete ended up exposing a situation that many considered inattentive or indifferent to the game’s scenario.
Postagem with adverse score generates immediate negative reaction
The attacker used the “stories” tool on Instagram to share an image of the television tuned to the broadcast of the classic. In the photo, Mbappé wrote the traditional encouraging phrase “Hala Madrid”. Entretanto, the detail that angered Madrid fans was the chronology of the image. The electronic scoreboard displayed in the post already indicated Barcelona’s partial victory by 2-0, a score that ended up being the final result of the match.
The repercussion was instantaneous on social media and in Europa’s main media outlets. Torcedores interpreted the gesture as a lack of sensitivity towards the dramatic moment the club was experiencing on the field. The trip to Italian territory during the decisive confrontation had already been the subject of previous questions, but the publication sealed the climate of hostility.
- Atacante traveled to Itália during the classic in Barcelona
- Publicação showed a 2-0 score in favor of the rival
- Spanish Imprensa classified the act as incomprehensible
- Real Madrid lost the Spanish title in the same match
- Mbappé has 41 goals this season, but is experiencing a recent drought
Críticas from the Spanish press and climate of instability
Espanha’s sports newspapers did not spare the number 9 from harsh evaluations. Madri’s diary “As” used the term “incomprehensible” to define the player’s attitude in displaying the defeat score while trying to simulate institutional support. Já the Catalunha periodicals, such as “Mundo Deportivo” and “Sport”, highlighted the “annoyance” and “incredulity” that took over the Merengues fans in the face of the Frenchman’s stance.
Este new chapter of wear and tear occurs in a context of questions about Mbappé’s real commitment to the club’s sporting project. The season has been marked by episodes of indiscipline in the squad, and the striker’s drop in performance in recent months increases the complaints. The player scored just four goals in the last ten matches he played, an average far below the standard presented at the beginning of the cycle in Madri.
Desempenho technical fall and injury history
Apesar from the recent controversy, Kylian Mbappé will end the 2025/2026 season as Real Madrid’s top scorer. São 41 goals scored in all competitions. However, the statistical brilliance has not been enough to calm the spirits after the failure in the fight for the La Liga trophy. The athlete’s difficulty in maintaining physical regularity is also a point of attention for the technical board.
Desde who returned from a knee problem in March, the player was unable to regain ideal physical shape. Nas two last rounds of the championship, he was returned to the medical department due to a new muscle injury. The absence from the Barcelona title game, combined with the leisure trip and the gaffe on social media, creates a scenario of isolation for the star in the Santiago Bernabéu locker room and stands.
