Disney confirmed this Tuesday that Avatar: Fogo and Cinzas will be available on Disney+ from June 24, 2026. The film will arrive on the platform six months after its release in theaters, maintaining the production company’s distribution standard for blockbuster films. The third chapter of the James Cameron franchise opens in theaters on December 18, 2025.
Avatar: Fogo and Cinzas marks the most frantic return of the saga, bringing a new tribe and characters that expand the universe of Pandora. With this release, the franchise consolidates its schedule of five films scheduled until 2031, establishing a four-year cycle between each production.
The new tribe and cast of the third film
Povo of Cinzas appears as the main addition to the world of Pandora. Descrito as a volcanic and aggressive group, it contrasts with the Metkayina, a clan of the seas presented in Avatar: Caminho of Água. Oona Chaplin, actress known as Game of Thrones and granddaughter of Charles Chaplin, will play Varang, the leader of this new civilization.
The change in narrator also marks a significant difference. Diferente from the second film, which kept Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) as the protagonist, Avatar: Fogo and Cinzas passes the narrative to Lo’ak, played by Britain Dalton. Essa choice reflects the evolution of the story and the focus on the new generations of the alien planet.
Cronograma from Avatar franchise releases
The next films in the franchise are distributed on a well-defined calendar:
- Avatar: Fogo and Cinzas — releasing December 18, 2025
- Avatar 4 — scheduled for December 21, 2029
- Avatar 5 — scheduled for December 19, 2031
- Four-Year Hiato Separates Each Production
- Intervalo total of 22 years between the original film (2009) and the last in the saga
James Cameron, director responsible for the franchise, maintains the pace of production despite the challenges of making large-scale films. Avatar: Fogo and Cinzas represents the third of five chapters already confirmed, consolidating one of the most ambitious series in contemporary cinema.
Contexto of the story and continuation of the saga
Avatar: Água’s Caminho picked up the narrative many years after the events of the first film. Jake Sully and Neytiri (Zoë Saldaña) have formed a family and face a new human invasion in Pandora. The second film significantly expanded the universe presented in the previous decade, introducing the Metkayina and new environments on the alien planet.
Avatar: Fogo and Cinzas intend to further explore the world of Pandora. The introduction of Povo and Cinzas and the change in narrative perspective indicate that the story gradually moves away from the original characters, preparing the ground for the next generations and new conflicts on the planet.
