Inter Venezuela, the country’s largest private internet provider, announced the implementation of a new mobile backhaul service based on XGS-PON technology. The solution uses the virtualized cOS platform and the portfolio of fiber optic solutions from Harmonic, a company headquartered in São José, at Califórnia. The project marks a significant step in the evolution of the country’s mobile networks and offers cellular operators a cost-effective alternative to traditional dedicated links.

Mobile backhaul infrastructure is essential for connecting cell phone stations to data processing centers. Older Redes rely on point-to-point connections, which limit flexibility and scalability. The Inter Venezuela solution solves this bottleneck through shared optical fiber.

Arquitetura technique supports gradual expansion of 4G and 5G networks

Inter Venezuela implemented the virtualized cOS core of Harmonic, combined with the Fin 10G SFP+ OLT and the Pier high-density shelf OLT. Essa combination allows you to deliver XGS-PON backhaul services with surgical precision, both at cell stations and data aggregation points.

The solution transcends the traditional model of dedicated links. Mobile network Operadores can now access on-demand, scalable and quickly deployable fiber services. Isso reduces congestion, increases speeds for end users and prepares infrastructure for 5G densification in the region.

Marco Baptista, CEO of Inter Venezuela, highlighted the strategic relevance of the project. “The new mobile backhaul service

Vantagens operational and performance

Harmonic fiber solutions provide several competitive benefits:

  • Scalable Arquitetura enables seamless expansion of services as mobile networks grow
  • Fatores Flexible Forms of Pier OLT and Fin 10G to Meet Varied Deployment Requirements
  • Gerenciamento centralized across the cOS core with real-time visibility, continuous telemetry and advanced analytics
  • Implantação quickly launches new services, reducing time to market

The cOS platform provides centralized control over the entire fiber network. Analistas monitor performance in real time, access detailed telemetry data and identify optimization opportunities. Essa constant visibility ensures superior end-user experience.

Posicionamento competitive in the Latin American market

Jeffrey Glahn, Senior Vice President of Global Sales at Harmonic, commented on the strategic impact of the partnership. “We are excited to support Inter Venezuela’s innovative approach to mobile backhaul, which reinforces its position as an innovative service provider in the Latin American market. As Conforme service providers evolve their networks to offer next-generation fiber optic broadband services, Harmonic solutions deliver the performance and flexibility they need to scale efficiently, optimize resources and drive business success.”

The Inter Venezuela project takes place in the context of regional preparation for 5G densification. Operadores mobile devices at América Latina invest in infrastructure to support growth in data traffic. Shared fiber Redess reduce capital and operational expenses compared to dedicated point-to-point links. Essa economic efficiency accelerates return on investment.

Expansão national fiber optic services

Inter Venezuela has expanded its XGS-PON coverage nationwide. The strategy reaches both urban centers and areas with lower population density. Mobile Operadores, regardless of size, now access professional fiber optic-based backhaul infrastructure.

The solution also offers a clear path for migrating existing 4G networks to 5G. Conforme operators densify cell sites to support 5G, same fiber infrastructure scales without need for complete redesign. Isso protects prior investments while enabling continuous innovation.
